MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a FMCG Food Manufacturing business, on the search for Financial Accountant. This is a permanent role based in Leeds.

Key Responsibilities:

The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining strong financial control, including month-end management account preparation, balance sheet preparation, balance sheet reconciliation and providing financial support to cost centre holders within the business.
  • You will also be involved in the financial year end and associated audit, statutory accounts, tax and the budgeting / forecasting processes
  • Maintaining and developing departmental financial control
  • Responsible for working closely with cost centre owners and members of the executive team to undertake budget preparation and reporting including P&L; balance sheet / cash flow; consolidation control and covenant compliance
  • Month end preparation including journal processing, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, P&L Analysis, balance sheet analysis
  • Participation in the budgeting and forecast process, providing appropriate questioning and challenges within the budget process
  • Undertakes preparation for audits and provides a point of contact for auditors
  • Undertakes preparation of statutory accounts
  • Working with appointed tax advisors to prepare annual tax computations. Responsible for timely and accurate submission to relevant tax authorities and instructs payments as necessary
  • Responsible for capital spend control, flagging anomalies and concerns to the Financial Controller
  • Responsible for admin and compliance linked to debt facilities
  • Preparing the financial information for the board pack and collating reports and presentations from other members of the management team
  • Providing support on any acquisitions

  • Relevant PQE ideally in an FMCG environment.
  • knowledge and practice of enhancing internal processes and internal reporting / forecasting.
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate data and information and use this to take appropriate action.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Assertive and confident and able to quickly build a high level of personal and professional credibility within the business, demonstrating strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, influencing and negotiating at all levels.
  • Work effectively in collaboration cross-functionally to achieve shared goals and deliver business objectives.
  • Confident decision maker, even with incomplete or limited information.
  • Exposure to project management skills with the ability to assist in delivering projects to completion, and provide hands on support as appropriate.
  • A flexible outlook with the ability to use problem solving skills and 'outside the box' thinking.
  • Introduces creative business solutions and innovative ideas to take the business forward.
  • Ability to explain and present complex and / or technical issues clearly, accurately and simply.
