Job summary
The Global Transportation Services (GTS) Finance team in Europe is expanding! We support short- and long-term planning for end to end transportation cost, in every European geography at Amazon as well as commercial modelling on carrier negotiations. By building robust financial plans, linking operational metrics with financial outcomes and supporting our business partners make data driven commercial decisions, the GTS Finance Team plays a vital role as Amazon strives to be Earth's most customer-centric company.

As Amazon continues to grow so does the demand for talented Finance Business Partners. We are recruiting for several senior positions across the team to continue to improve our understanding of what drives our cost operationally and identify opportunities for improvement in our executional systems and processes. Managing core finance processes and building complex financial models to support formulation of scenarios and recommendations, you will be at the heart of our investment strategy for the future.

Working with European and Global business stakeholders, you will deliver high-quality financial analysis and narratives that support strategic choices and improve customer experience. You will work backwards from your customer, and problem solve on their behalf. You will dive deep into their requirements, and have the confidence to challenge business partners on the assumptions in their plans to achieve better outcomes for our Customers and Amazon.

We are looking for an analytical and resourceful professional, combining outstanding communication with excellent technical skills, able to translate complex technical concepts into easy to understand performance narratives. In this role you will get the opportunity to work closely with business stakeholders in Retail finance, Controllership, BI, Supply Chain and Transportation to build multi-billion dollars financial plans.

You will have the autonomy to innovate and deliver new approaches that impact the bottom and the top line, grow and collaborate in a fast-pace environment where every day is day one and cooperate with professionals from a wide variety of professional backgrounds

Key job responsibilities
  • Using solid financial knowledge and business insight to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for contract negotiations with significant P&L impact.
  • Managing reporting processes to drive decision making.
  • Building short and long term business plans and communicating results to company leaders.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to develop relevant reports and metrics that improve the management of commercial contractual terms and drive cost savings.
  • Driving continuous improvement and standardization of processes, including implementation of best practices and automation initiatives.

The role will require the ability to understand the economics of the various business models in the Transportation space ability to see the big picture and detail simultaneously.

Additional traits we are looking for are a strong desire to exceed expectations, effective interpersonal skills; including persuasive written and oral communication, solid organisational skills and experience with information technology.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or other fields with analytical focus.
  • Relevant experience performing financial or other quantitative analyses with demonstrated career progression in a corporate setting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills to various levels of management.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or professional certification (examples: CIMA / ACCA / CPA / CMA).
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos).
  • Ability to work with business leaders to deliver results and persuade with data.
