Corporate Services provides sustainable strategies, solutions and services to enable our clients to deliver with confidence Transport's vision. The division thrives in providing a robust to commercial management, ensuring financial sustainability across the cluster and driving strategic projects, procurement and transformation through the provision of corporate services to internal clients.

The opportunity

An exciting new opportunity now exists for a Tax Accountant within Transport Shared Services- Finance & Procurement team in our Corporate Services division. This is a Temporary full-time opportunity, up to June 2023, based in Burwood however with the current COVID environment the incumbent of the role will have the option of working from home.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide end-to-end tax accounting services encompassing the preparation, analysis and lodgement of payroll tax, general sales tax, fuel tax credit, fringe benefit tax, and taxable payments annual reporting. The role works in a team environment, assisting and complementing the work of others in the tax accounting team, working closely with a range of stakeholders and ensuring that lodgement of tax obligations are completed on time and are of high quality.

You will work closely with the Senior Tax Accountant in delivering specific tax accounting activities which include GST, FBT, BAS, Fuel Tax Credits, Payroll Tax etc. You will be responsible to identify system and process improvements that improve the quality of tax reports and the timely delivery of tax services.

About you

Essential Requirements:
  • Experience working in tax accounting in a large organisation
  • Experience with and sound understanding of relevant legislation and regulations and commercial accounting practices relating to government organisations.
  • Demonstrated skill in building rapport, understanding stakeholder requirements and resolving concerns.
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate clearly, concisely and appropriately both orally and in writing.
  • Sound numeracy ability with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt, to learn and implement new processes and procedures as new technology, service requirements and work methods emerge

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 7A ($106,086) - 7E ($118,816) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
