The Head of MSEHSE Global Corporate Controllers (Head of GCC; Job Role: Managing Director) is responsible for: Regulatory Capital and Liquidity Control and Reporting; Legal Entity Control and Reporting; and Accounting and Regulatory Advisory and Policy. Additionally, the Head of GCC is responsible for the management of the financial resources of the MSEHSE Group.

The Head of GCC leads, manages and oversees the MSEHSE Group's corporate controllers with responsibility for developing clear and appropriate organisational structures, processes, policies, systems and controls. In addition, the Head of GCC partners with other divisions of the Firm, including the Institutional Securities Group and the Risk division, to execute the MSEHSE group goals.

The role holder will report to the MSEHSE Group CFO and have a functional reporting line to the EMEA Head of GCC.

Head of Corporate Controllers related responsibilities:

Regulatory Capital and Liquidity Control and Reporting

  • Capital and Liquidity monitoring and reporting for MSEHSE based legal entities Pillar 1 capital calculations, Pillar 3 disclosures and regulatory returns including monitoring of controls to ensure provision of accurate capital and liquidity metrics to key stakeholders including MSEHSE Governance groups, regulators and within publicly disclosed Pillar 3 information.
  • Produce daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual capital & liquidity reporting, analytics and monitoring as required, including regulatory reporting.
  • Work with Heads of Business Units, Control and Infrastructure Functions to formulate and/or validate budgets and forecasts at a group and legal entity level, in particular related to risk-weighted assets, third party exposures, leverage exposure and balance sheet exposures.
  • Provide for the effective setting, management, allocation, forecasting and monitoring of MSEHSE Group?s capital, 3rd party exposures and leverage exposure ratios and limits, escalating additional capital need as required.
  • Report key resource limits and partner with the businesses to manage and optimize balance sheet and capital.

Legal Entity Control and Reporting

  • Financial reporting for MSEHSE Group legal entities including statutory financial statements and regulatory reporting under IFRS, German GAAP and US GAAP.

Accounting and Regulatory Advisory & Policy:

Preparation of MS accounting policies under IFRS and German GAAP with provision of training on the key requirements; provision of accounting advice under IFRS and German GAAP to controller teams and the business where significant accounting judgment is required, monitoring of evolving IFRS and German GAAP accounting requirements and assessment of potential impact to MS consolidated entities that apply IFRS and German GAAP, including the MSEHSE Group.

Publication of MS regulatory policies and related interpretations as applicable to the MSEHSE Group and provision of training on the key requirements, provision EU and German regulatory policy advice to controller teams and the business where significant regulatory policy judgment is required, monitoring evolving regulatory developments relevant to the MSEHSE Group. Furthermore, serving as a first point of contact on prudential interpretative matters including engagement with EU regulators within Policy on selected topics, management of communication of key regulatory developments, providing leadership on EU policy development work and representation of the Policy team on related projects & initiatives.

System and Controls

  • Develop and maintain robust systems, controls and records to meet financial accounting and regulatory requirements, including to oversee the implementation of appropriate systems and controls for the approval of new products in accordance with the framework set out in the New Product Approval Policy.
  • Ensure that systems and controls within the MSEHSE GCC are appropriate for the identification, quantification, mitigation and management of risk on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure the MSEHSE GCC's compliance with the relevant requirements and standards applicable to the MSEHSE Group and adherence to the MSEHSE Group's policies and procedures.

Other

  • Act as key point of contact with the statutory auditors and oversee the GCC's interaction with them.
  • Act as key interface with the EU regulators on all MSEHSE Group capital matters.
  • Provide comprehensive, timely and accurate information, in relation to the activities and responsibilities of the MSEHSE corporate controllers, to relevant stakeholders (including, for example, the Management & Supervisory Boards of the MSEHSE Group, external auditors and regulators) as required.
  • Advise the MSEHSE Group on changes to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards as they relate to the activities and responsibilities of the MSEHSE Group Finance Division.
  • Oversee the MSEHSE Finance Division's adherence to the MSEHSE Group's policies and procedures.

Leadership and Management

  • Promote an appropriate culture and standards amongst MSEHSE GCC staff across the MSEHSE Group, including in relation to the fair treatment of the MSEHSE Group's customers and preserving market integrity.
  • Promote professional development and continuous improvement of staff within GCC, including by providing appropriate support, training and performance evaluation.
  • Review and monitor performance of staff within the MSEHSE GCC, taking care not to reward poor or inappropriate behaviour.
  • sider the potential impacts of the MSEHSE Group's activities and exercise appropriate judgement to protect the MSEHSE Group's reputation with clients, regulators and other external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have:

  • Strong track record of success in a Managing Director role within the Financial Services industry or broader professional services which may include
  • Experience in / knowledge of the workings of the finance division and the broader regulatory framework in which the financial services industry operates an advantage. Interest in these topics a requirement.
  • Appreciation of operational risk concepts including identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting and remediation of operational risks.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and to influence global stakeholders.
  • Commitment as a self-motivated individual who can demonstrate initiative & problem solving abilities.
  • Strong client and partner relationship abilities in a global organization.
  • Analytical skills with a control focus and high regard for attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking in order to challenge processes, solve for ad hoc queries and creativity to suggest alternative approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
  • Strong MS office skills.
