Who we are looking for
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) will manage the accounting delivery process ensuring that all deliverables are quality controlled and dispatched on time, in accordance with client service level agreements. Key management priorities include:
- Cash and Stock oversight/escalation
- NAV delivery oversight
- Reporting oversight
- Accounting query resolution
- IMT/Near Miss and Error logging
The AVP will be responsible for ensuring all standard controls are applied across all clients and work with CDM, CoE’s and the Governance Controls Team where controls have failed or gaps are identified.
The AVP will be responsible for staff management, ensuring that all staff has regular meetings and forums are in place to discuss team matters. The AVP will oversee the objective setting and appraisal process for direct reports.

What you will be responsible for
Manage Core Activities & Risk
Monitor and evaluate the continuing effectiveness of processes, system and procedures, initiating remedial action as necessary.
- Cash and stock oversight. Ensure processes in place to deal with all accounting attributable items and that all breaks are dealt with in line with escalation procedures
- NAV delivery oversight – ensuring a standard controls approach and identifying all nonstandard/bespoke controls with full justification across all clients
- Reporting oversight – ensuring a standard approach for all reporting
- Accounting query resolution – Ensure all queries are dealt with in line with agreed IMT principles.
- IMT – promoting and using IMT to maximize the analysis for the UK, ensuring all issues are logged and all queries are routed correctly
- Error and Near Miss – responsible for ensuring all errors and near misses are logged appropriately and timely
- Understanding the risks and make sure that appropriate, clearly defined controls are established and executed across all oversight functions
- Demonstrate strong risk awareness, taking steps to reduce State Streets exposure to risk
- Manage applicable laws and regulatory requirements and conform with the ‘risk’ escalation chain
Staff Management
- Lead and motivate staff, agree objectives for staff annually; monitor and appraise their performance providing regular formal and informal feedback
- Assist with the recruitment of new staff
- Manage and plan resources ensuring delivery of outcomes are consistent, timely and accurate
- Monitor absence levels and ensure absence management procedures are followed
- Hold regular team meetings and 1:1s to ensure regular communication with staff.
- Set and maintain standards of personal and professional performance/behavior, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
Client Management
- In the event of price/reporting delays, ensure the client are keep informed frequently and provided with realistic ETA’s
- Engage with CDM/CS when required.
Participation in internal meetings
- Act as a focal point for contacts and meetings with other departments in COE’s and external contacts such as custodians, trustees, investment managers, auditors etc., providing technical expertise on the service provided
- Monitor the service from internal groups and feed into the relevant forums for COE’s.
- Ensure regular meetings with the COE’s are conducted by officers to maintain service levels and resolve issues – being proactive to promote change and best practice
Execute Core Activities
- Manage own time and activities effectively (delegating where required) setting an example through good housekeeping and time management
- Take responsibility for personal development and training
- Keep up to date with legislative and regulatory changes affecting the business
- Ensure the immediate line manager and others, as appropriate, are kept aware of all issues/problems/queries/work in progress that may impact the quality of service being given
