ABOUT THE ROLE:

SALARY - £21,500 RISING TO £22,500 AFTER 3 MONTHS PROBATION

This role will provide support to the Finance team, under the direction of the Financial Manager. The successful candidate will be shadowing team members as an apprentice, learning, and refining accounting skills whilst studying towards a professional qualification. You will be responsible for assisting in processing invoices, maintaining accurate purchase and sales ledgers, recording, maintaining, and reconciling cashbooks. In addition, this role will provide support to the Finance Manager and wider Finance team on accounts receivable processing, the production of the Group's monthly accounts and the maintenance of the Group's general ledger application.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES / WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Working as part of a team, key responsibilities relate to:

• Responsible for the Group's Accounts Payable processes and associated general ledger records - ensuring suppliers are paid in accordance with group policies and audit trails are maintained for audit, control, and governance.

• Responsible for raising sales invoices and maintaining the associated general ledger records.

• Providing support to the Finance Manager and wider Finance Team in the production of monthly Group accounts, which will include the maintenance of the Group's fixed asset register, generating prepayment entries, allocated cost accruals and bank reconciliations.

• Responding to ad-hoc queries and requests for information and analysis from suppliers, customers, auditors, and colleagues as required.

• Provide support to Finance and business wide initiatives and objectives as required.

• Compiling financial information for reporting purposes and external audit.

• Actively study for a recognised professional accounting qualification.

ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP:

As a Trainee Accountant you will develop the technical knowledge plus the professional skills and behaviours to work within Finance, gaining valuable work experience plus achieving a qualification through a structured apprenticeship programme to kick-start your career.

You will work within a team of talented finance professionals with plenty of opportunities to gain experience across a variety of tasks. As part of your development, you will learn technical skills such as advanced bookkeeping, final accounts preparation plus management accounting, indirect tax, and spreadsheets for accounting. You will also mature your personal skills in personal accountability, communication, teamwork, ethics and integrity, analysis, problem solving, adding value, and embracing change.

By the end of the apprenticeship, you will achieve your Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship plus the AAT Level 3 - Advanced Diploma. Typically, the Apprenticeship will take around 15-18 months to complete.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

To apply for this role, you will need:

• To be 18 years old as of 1st September 2022.

• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A to C (new grades 9 to 4) including Maths and English.

• To be eligible to work in the UK and not in full-time education.

• You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
