Full time, 37.5 hours (Monday- Friday)

The operations team is at the heart of the contract success providing a large Asylum centre on behalf of UKVI at RAF Linton. The department will be responsible for the onsite support, provision of service and safeguarding of our vulnerable Service Users. Pivotal to the effective running of site, members of the department will be responsible for the establishment of cohesive and collaborative ways of working. The team is also responsible for optimising service and supporting continuous improvement across the operational workstreams.

We have an opening for a Risk Assurance Manger to join our team. This is an important role for the business. Whilst the stakeholder and operational delivery teams are focused on their Customer and Service User responsibilities, there are a number of services essential to supporting them. The reason for the Compliance, Risk and Security function is to ensure support, advice and guidance is provided to ensure compliance with risk management across all functions including the management and control of security aspects, ensuring the contract delivers in a compliant, efficient and effective manner. The role will be responsible for assisting with essential supporting activities, as well as undertaking projects as directed that meet both business and wider Serco initiatives and priorities.

The Risk & Assurance manager is responsible for:

  • Supporting the RAF Linton site in developing, driving and maintaining an overall risk management and assurance strategy for the contract. Utilising the risk management process to assess the potential impact's and to create solutions to reduce/remove known risks.
  • Offering contractual guidance and support to colleagues where needed. • Management of onsite security policy and process including daily incident reviews, Soloprotect, CCTV, visitor management and weekly physical site assessments. • Support operational teams with Business Continuity and Major Incident management. • Support operational colleagues on site to ensure the site is audited against contractual requirements on an annual basis. In conjunction with the wider AASC contract produce corrective action plans.
  • Work with the relevant internal teams to assist in maintaining compliance with policies, LOPs, and supporting documentation. Support with implementing changes and amendments as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as required, such as Local Authorities, Police, Health Services, other stakeholders and other teams within the AASC family.
  • Responsible for management and implementation of initiatives requested by Serco and/or wider Serco business, as determined by the Head of Compliance Risk & Security or CLT.
  • Acting as a catalyst for improvement, adherence, and consistency in Risk Management.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the site by conducting assurance reviews and physical site assessments providing efficient and effective solutions to potential business risk.
  • Support the function with maintaining professional standards and assist with the internal investigations process as and when required.
  • Conduct audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors.
  • Provide support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.
  • Provide management information as required at team meetings and to SMT/CLT colleagues to enable progress with plans and objectives to be measured and reviewed.


What you'll need to do the role

  • This is a multi-function role, so flexibility and adaptability are skills that are essential.
  • Minimum 2 years in a management role with clear, proven record of operational delivery and incident management.
  • Excellent people management skills, with demonstrable evidence of influencing internal and external stakeholders at all levels to deliver results.
  • Proven presentational skills, with success in delivering messages effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of compliance, risk and assurance within a private or public sector service industry.
  • Excellent self-management skills, with demonstrable evidence of confidence when liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to deliver results.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • IT literate - specifically MS Word and MS Excel is essential.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • a valid UK driver`s licence.
