Reporting to the Head of Finance and with one direct report to the position, you will have operational responsibility for the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts plus commentary to the Board, forecasts, budgets and business planning. You will lead in the year end preparation of the Statutory Accounts and provide high quality management information to support the achievement of the Trust's aims and objectives.

Description
Role Responsibilities:
- Line management and mentoring of the Assistant Management Accountant
- Production of management accounts including cash flow, balance sheet and commentary used in board meetings
- Production, management and reporting of forecasts, budgets and business plans as required that accurately reflect the Trust's optimum performance by meeting with Projects and Department Heads to produce consolidated accounts to be reviewed by the Head of Finance
- Business partnering with Corporate Directors, Senior Managers and Project Managers to achieve financial targets.
- Working with operational teams to identify and analyse the key drivers in financial performance alongside setting out action plans to bring under-performing areas back in line with budgeted expectations.
- Completion of financial, statutory and regulatory returns
- Leading the completion of financial statements and statutory accounts prior to and after external audit process
- Analysis and interpretation of financial information to identify key drivers within income and expenditure streams
- Effective capital management to maximise cash across the organisation and reduce arrears
- Creating and developing financial models
- Developing, implementing, measuring and reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Working directly with operational teams and associated central support functions
- Embedding Open Accounts finance system throughout the organisation and improving Finance processes
Responsibilities common to all management staff:
- To propose and update the Trust Finance policies and procedures
- To contribute to delivery of the Finance function, as identified in the Trust's Business Plan, through line management and through meeting key performance targets relating to the role
- Enhance the profile of the Trust by developing and maintaining new partnerships with key stakeholders.
- To assist in the production of plans and budgets for ultimate approval by the Chief Executive and Corporate Directors and to implement and manage the approved plans and budgets
- Ensure that appropriate risk assurance processes operate effectively
- To promote a culture of quality, economy, efficiency and effectiveness
Profile
ESSENTIAL
- Be qualified (CIPFA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with minimum 2 years post qualification experience.
- Have management experience (even 1 person).
- Have a full driving license
- Be comfortable managing a small team and maintaining positive working relationships both internally and externally to the organisation to achieve the aims of the charity
- Have an ambitious attitude
DESIRABLE
- Working knowledge of Charity and / or Housing Association finance and accounting
- Motivated to help others and disadvantaged groups
