About Us:

Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal community-controlled organisation established to help restore and reconstruct the identity, dignity and integrity of Aboriginal men who were forcibly removed from their families and put into the Kinchela Boys Home (KBH) and to address the intergenerational trauma that adversely impacts on the lives of the men's families and descendants. KBHAC has grown exponentially to extend their support to the broader Aboriginal sector with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability programs from their offices in Sydney and Kempsey employing 40 staff.

About the Role:

We are seeking a full time Bookkeeper to be responsible for:

  • Supplier and staff reimbursement management.
  • Sales invoicing and debtor management.
  • Payroll tasks including handling of new and terminated employees, and processing of fortnightly pays, staff entitlements and leave requests
  • Receipts processing, bank and credit cards reconciliation.
  • Fixed Assets Register and Depreciation.
  • Supporting the CFO with Month and year end processes, management and board reports; end of year audit preparation; budgeting, re-forecasting and program acquittals; improving and documenting internal systems and processes; and staff training.
  • Administrative support where needed.

About You

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Has experience in a similar role, with a qualification in Bookkeeping, Accounting or similar.
  • Is proficient in Xero and financial modelling with Excel.
  • Respects confidentiality, teamwork and collaboration.
  • Is a quick learner, shows initiative and ability to work independently.


The following attributes will be highly desirable but are not essential:

  • Prior experience working with Not for Profit and the Aboriginal Community.
  • Experience using DEXT or CALXA.
  • Knowledge of the NDIS sector and Flowlogic.
