The opportunity

EY Infrastructure Advisory advises clients on funding, strategy, bidding, and procurement of investments for large-scale infrastructure projects.

We advise across asset classes including transportation (e.g., transit, port terminals, highways, airports), healthcare, environmental (e.g., waste), energy, social infrastructure, schools, and municipal facilities, urban and green developments, throughout the full lifecycle of core infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships across Greece, CESA region, and globally, with EY Athens acting traditionally as a hub of regional know-how in the field.

Your key responsibilities

As an Analyst/Senior Analyst, you are given the opportunity to work within our Strategy and Transactions specialized practice of Infrastructure Advisory. You would be given the opportunity to build an integral role that involves working closely with other members of the rapidly growing national Infrastructure Advisory team to execute a variety of engagements related to the planning, development, delivery, and operations of major infrastructure projects.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Working on multiple assignments in parallel, within tight deadlines, with perfect numerical and factual accuracy, and with an exceptional standard of performance
  • Be self-driven and have a genuine curiosity and passion to build knowledge in the infrastructure domain (cross-sector, from transport to waste management, to green and social infrastructure, etc.) and its related capital markets and supply chains
  • Assist, with guidance from the local team, clients in the development and implementation of strategies to advance national and multi-country large-scale infrastructure / investment projects
  • Support in elaborating high-quality, winning client proposals, and in the successful preparation and submission of documentation for Greek and multi-country public sector tenders, including compilation of inputs from multi-disciplinary teams (financial, legal, technical, commercial, environmental, social, insurance, etc.)
  • Support in flagship client assignments in relation to structuring, bidding or procurement of PPPs and concessions, depending on scope
  • Prepare drafts of reports and presentations for client meetings, and communicate complex analyses clearly
  • Support in structuring and in reviewing project finance documentation
  • Support in structuring and reviewing from the financial standpoint, privatization related documents (SPAs, shareholder agreements), requests for qualification, partnership, and concession agreements
  • Support in market sounding processes / investor identification / investor presentations
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis, including the construction of financial models / scenarios / sensitivities
  • Research accounting, tax, and financial market information to be used in scenario analysis and negotiation support
  • Collaborate with other team members in identifying and exploring potential new business opportunities

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 2 - 4 (for Analyst) & 5+ (for Senior Analyst) years of relevant working experience with proven skills in executing, from idea to closing, client written deliverables (from extensive written reports in MS Word/PDF and well organized and formatted Power Point presentations, to accompanying / for internal use supporting financial models / tools used in order to substantiate reports, as well as powerful and condensed executive summaries)
  • Excellent academic background / records (Bachelors’ degree in Accounting & Finance, Business Administration or related or an engineering university degree, in this case, if combined with an Accounting & Finance master’s degree)
  • Proven reading, research and business writing skills (in both English and Greek language), with the ability to understand and derive, after reading, relevant multi-disciplinary, cross-sector conclusions, as well as summarize and write business documents, in a meaningful, compelling, and professional manner
  • Track-record of compliant (ideally, also won) public tenders submitted as main Analyst / Senior Analyst on the tender (Greek public sector, European and global tenders etc.)
  • Experience in PPPs, concession projects, privatizations and/or secondary market deals in the infrastructure domain
  • Working knowledge for the Greek debt financing and capital markets; and/or global infrastructure and project financing markets
  • Understanding of key business and market drivers as they relate to government and private sector industries, including “greening” of infrastructure and digitalization trends
  • Working knowledge of Greek and International Finance and Accounting concepts and principles
  • Team oriented, collaborative, respectful, positive, flexible style
  • Enthusiastic, creative, energetic and with problem - solving attitude
  • Excel spreadsheet and modelling skills, advanced MS Word (including dealing with multiple sections), working knowledge of Power BI, VBA basic level, MS Project basic level

Ideally, you will also have:

  • A master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting & Finance, Financial Management and / or other related field with strong quantitative focus
  • ACCA, ACA or similar accounting / reporting qualification or plans to pursue it
