About the role

This role supports the financial accounting function working directly and indirectly with all levels of Orica employees and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and Orica's financial controls and standards.

What you will be doing

Month End Processes & Procedures
Perform allocated month end processes and procedures in a timely and accurate manner
Recording, analysis and review of data in system related to general ledgers and trial balances, in support of business and functional requests, validation of transactions processed and substantiation of reconciling items (Manual Journal Entries, Intercompany & Fixed Assets)
Prepare & Review Balance Sheet Reconciliations and perform Balance Sheet Maintenance (clearing and monitoring of open items)
Ensure journals and reconciliations for general ledger accounts including substantiation of reconciling items, reviewed by GBS and approved by the business
Comply with accounting standards and Orica accounting policies
Deliver timely and accurate financial information in support of business and functional requests
Assist the business monitor and action key reconciliations such as AP, AR, GRIR and AUC.
Execute tasks in accordance with applicable Service Level agreements
Asset management (assist with documentation for recharges, disposals and maintenance of Fixed Asset Registers)

Financial & Management Reporting
Assist with preparation of business unit financial statements - business unit B/S, P&L, Cash Flow and consolidation of financial statements.
Assist with preparation of trial balance and issue other nominated financial and management reports 9.3.2.8

Audit & Balance Sheet Review 9
Assist with preparation of half-yearly audit packs, ensuring they are complete, accurate and issued within agreed timeframe
Participate in internal and external audit as required
Assist with the preparation of the Balance Sheet Review template as required
Assist with preparation of Statutory returns (Indirect Taxes) with compliance to deadlines / timetables
Liaison with Tax Manager, experts and professional consultants where required in relation to statutory requirements and tax audits, including document extraction and collation
Participate in internal and external audit as required

Administration and Compliance
Compliance with relevant Orica standards, Segregation of Duties and Orica's financial authority limits.
Compliance with all tax, treasury, statutory and financial policies
Support Supervisor/Lead with managing specific process, ensure alignment, reporting and communication including appropriate workload allocation, execution of appropriate backup systems, monitoring of volume and productivity
Ensure accurate and up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures for all processes

Your qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business discipline
Professional designation CA, CMA, or CPA
Experience in a large, global business in a similiar role
5 years post graduate experience in accounting or finance (or related discipline)
Technical accounting knowledge
SAP and Excel and financial modelling skills
