About the role: The role is to manage lease accounting reporting, processes, controls and software across the group. This involves monthly reporting, working with new acquisitions, maintaining the control environment and providing technical support to country accounting teams. The group currently has leases with a value of ~£500M.The role is global and sits within the Group Financial Reporting Team. It involves the line management of Lease Administrators (currently one with a further position being recruited).

Responsibilities:The key responsibilities of the role are:

• Ensure complete and accurate reporting of lease accounting information, based on data in BDO Lead
• Ensure controls and reconciliations for lease reporting and transaction flows are in place, actioned and evidenced.
• Support the onboarding of lease data major acquisitions
• Provide technical support on lease accounting (IFRS 16)
• The role will involve independent working and problem solving as well as line management and backup for lease administrators

Duties:

• Validate inputs into BDO Lead (Lease software)

• Provide monthly data for company journals

• Reconcile BDO Lead/Open Accounts (GL) at a group level

• Provide IBR information to BDO and update BDO Lead every quarter with new IBR rates

• Provide technical support to country teams regarding lease matters, eg lease extensions and rental increases

• Monitor reconciliation/clearance of the lease control accounts

• Support the gathering and validation of lease details for major acquisitions

• Prepare lease notes for full and half year accounts

• Prepare overlay journals for newly acquired major acquisitions that are not yet reporting under IFRS 16

• Prepare lease information re terminations/impairments each month for cashflow reporting

• Provide cover for Lease Administrator when out of office

• Line management of Lease Administrators (currently 1, increasing to 2)

What we are looking for: The successful candidate will have ACA or similar accounting qualification with 2 years post qualified experience and have a good working knowledge of IFRS 16. You will have experience of working with accounting controls and have practical approach to problem solving. You will have a high attention to detail and a can-do attitude.It would be desirable for the successful candidate to have line management experience as well as working with overseas companies/foreign currencies, use of lease databases and experience conversion from UK / local GAAP to IFRS.
