Role/ Department:

  • The Capital Markets Product team sits within the Strategy & Product Management group of the Corporate & Institutional Services business which aims to provide best in class front-to-back services to Global Asset Managers and Asset Owners.
  • It is responsible for defining and executing the strategy globally for a range of capabilities and services to support the growing sophistication in the Northern Trust client base.
  • This is a senior role responsible for helping to develop and execute the product strategy for the Securities Finance business unit as outlined by the Capital Markets Product Lead and the Securities Finance Executive team.
  • The Product Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the full life cycle of various Securities Finance activities in the Capital Markets business. He/she gathers and analyses competitive data; monitors markets/services and participates in industry forums and/or client meetings to promote the products and understand the marketplace.
  • To be effective, the role requires leadership skills, analytical and problem solving skills and credibility amongst a large and diverse set of constituents including both senior management and numerous partners across Product, Capital Markets, Operations, Risk & IT and others responsible for delivering the programme.
  • A strong business sense and the ability to proactively seek commercialisation opportunities is also required.
  • The role will engage across the organisation to ensure timely, relevant and robust deployment of products and services to meet client needs.
  • This role will also be responsible for and/or contribute to broader capital markets related activities as required. This role is critical in building for the future for Northern Trust and its clients.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing market insights and evaluating industry trends
  • Formulating product strategy and aligning cross functional teams, uncovering opportunities and determining product life cycles
  • Shaping the value proposition, developing the business case and defining the marketing mix model as part of the new product planning process
  • Lead in introducing new products to the market by securing regulatory approvals, publishing marketing material and conducting sales training
  • Supporting the evaluation and implementation of regulatory and compliance related requirements
  • Assessing industry movement and refine value based pricing post the launch of new products
  • Leading initiatives and investments for short term and strategic projects and programs
  • Taking accountability, in partnership with senior executives, for the successful delivery of identified programmes to agreed scopes, costs and schedules
  • Providing sales support including presenting at client and prospect meetings
  • Creating strategies for cross-program coordination and go-to market rollouts
  • Conducting post launch audits, tracks product success, analyses P &L, metrics, KPIs; making recommendations for improvements to promotional programs
  • Proactively manages and assists the team in the resolution of programme challenges and risks mitigation strategies

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Background in Securities Finance industry, including but not limited to: Prime brokerage, delta one, securities lending, Repo, Financing and Liquidity solutions and Collateral optimisation
  • Deep experience in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) markets a must and experience in emerging and restricted markets considered an advantage
  • Strong business foundations, including an understanding of what it takes to commercialize a product or service
  • Proven commercial and business development skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interface with clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a global team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver on large-scale projects across multiple locations / geographies
  • Demonstrated ability to concurrently manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Interpersonal and communication skills required to liaise effectively with members of the organization at all levels
  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
  • Demonstrated skills in listening to and influencing stakeholders at all levels, conveying complex topics
  • Excellent Program management skills demonstrated in successfully managed large-scale projects across multiple locations / geographies
  • Tenacious in delivery of quality projects, that meet strategic business outcomes, on-time and in-budget
  • Extremely driven and strong desire to deliver results despite challenges and constraints
  • Prior financial & budget management exposure and experience is preferred
  • Proven experience creating presentations as a subject matter expert.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, non-verbal and written
