Can you help us to be the best we can be – now and in the future?

Our Trustee Board is made up of 12 people who provide guidance and leadership to the charity. The trustees work together to determine our strategy and direction so that we can support current and future members and help bring about a world without barriers for every deaf child.

We’re currently looking for three people to join our Trustee Board.

We’re looking for people who share our ambition to change the world for all deaf children and young people and who are willing to ask challenging questions about our work and help make decisions about the future of the charity.

Two of the vacant positions are for the Honorary Treasurer and the Honorary Deputy Treasurer. These two roles are critical to making sure we spend our money in the right way to deliver now whilst also investing for the future. We would like to invite people who have accountancy qualifications, and experience at a senior level to apply for these roles.

For the third vacant position, we would be very interested to hear from people who have experience in the development and delivery of products and services through digital channels or experience of international development. However, the third role is open to everyone, and if you feel you have other skills, experience and insight to add to the Board we would love to hear from you.

We are committed to improving the diversity of our Board and we welcome applications from all sections of the community and from across the UK. Minority ethnic, young (18-30 years), deaf and disabled people are currently under-represented on the Board, as are members from outside London and the south-east of England.

The positions are open to everyone, but at least one of the three new trustees will be the parent or carer of a deaf child or young person (aged under 25 years).

Support, training and an experienced trustee ‘buddy’ are available to all new trustees to help them develop the skills they need.

The role of Trustee is a voluntary (unpaid) position, but we will reimburse reasonable expenses necessary for trustees to be able to attend meetings and take part in NDCS business.

Full information about this role, and the link to the application portal, can be found on our website via the apply button below.
