Role: Finance Manager – Stock, Margin & Strategic Projects

This is an opportunity to join our Global Finance Team in Dublin. Our Finance team is home to over 200 Finance professionals. You will have the opportunity to have autonomy and exposure to exciting areas of our business including many countries. You will be expected to bring a commercial mindset to this role providing finance support to the Primark’s international markets as required.

Purpose of role: Overall responsibility for the accounting and controls in the areas of stock, margin, treasury & sales and for delivering a number of strategic projects impacting these areas.

Reports to: Assistant Group Financial Controller

Location: Dublin

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of financial reporting in the areas of sales, margin, stock, intercompany and treasury accounting are considered and that Primark apply accounting rules correctly and in a consistent manner
  • Provide leadership and early proactive engagement on areas of accounting judgement to senior finance leadership, ABF stakeholders and external auditors, where relevant
  • Understand and communicate the commercial drivers underpinning reported financial performance
  • Ensuring the delivery of a number of key strategic projects impacting finance in these areas
  • Provide accounting and financial reporting oversight to Finance Managers and Accountants within your areas
  • Significant cross-functional working across Finance, Buying & Merchandising, New Business Development, Project Teams and other areas of the business
  • Review and challenge of periodic processes to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies through automation or revised processes
  • Ensure proper books and records are held in all jurisdictions and are in accordance with local requirements (tax, accounting, legal etc)
  • Any other tasks and ad hoc projects as required by management
  • Leading and management of a team including Finance Managers, Financial Accountants, Trainee Accountants and Associates

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or Equivalent)
  • 8+ years post qualification experience preferred (experience working in or with retail industry an advantage)
  • 4+ years managing a team
  • Leadership skills with the ability to inspire, lead, build & deliver through high performing teams
  • Experience in a commercial role an advantage
  • Thorough stock, margin and treasury knowledge and strong management skills are essential
  • Excellent Project Management skills – demonstrated ability to manage projects and teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to present complex information in an understandable manner and communicate to all levels within the business including those from non-accounting backgrounds
  • First-rate planning and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule and work within agreed timescales
  • Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment
  • Commercial awareness with an ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of wider business factors
  • Excellent attention to detail while also demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview
  • Demonstrated initiative with strong work ethic
  • English is essential and other European language would be an advantage
