The primary role of the Analyst, Private Equity is to provide analytical and operational support to the Private Equity team in the implementation and ongoing management of the Fund's Private Equity portfolio. This requires an understanding of and interest in the total portfolio risk/return characteristics and guidelines in building the Private Equity Portfolio.

The Analyst is expected to contribute to the development of the Fund's Private Equity strategy. In implementing the Private Equity strategy, the role builds upon an understanding of private equity transactions to help filter and pursue the most attractive fund managers and co-investment opportunities that are available to the fund.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide quantitative analysis of manager and investment performance, and build and maintain complex financial models;
  • Undertaking financial and commercial due diligence on prospective investments and fund commitments for the Agency including briefing and monitoring external due diligence advisers (where applicable);
  • Assist in drafting Board papers and monitoring reports for Private Equity matters in a timely manner that allows the Private Markets internal decision making process to be applied in a considered way;
  • Tightly monitor the Agency's Private Equity portfolio, and recommend how to proceed with corporate actions, shareholder or limited partner activities, interaction with managers and co-investors, and other activities required to ensure optimal performance from the portfolio;
  • Provide quantitative support for private equity portfolio construction decisions;
  • Assist in securing allocations of appropriate size for attractive private equity funds and sourcing attractive co-investment opportunities;
  • Assist in developing tax structures to ensure an appropriate balance of tax efficiency, transparency, and simplicity;
  • Contribute to a positive representation of the Fund's external brand and reputation, including attendance at industry events and external presentations, at the guidance of the Head of Private Equity.

Skills and Competencies

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Engineering, Mathematics, or a relevant field is essential.

• A dedicated individual with demonstrated experience in: financial or strategic advisory, investment or strategic management, financial valuations and due diligence, or experience from within a related industry.

Experience

• Proficiency in building and maintaining complex financial models.

• An understanding of corporate transactions, debt and equity markets, and financial valuation techniques.

• An understanding of investment risks and portfolio construction considerations.

• Familiarity with private equity strategies.

• Experienced at building and managing relationships with investment professionals.

• A drive to develop deeper knowledge and a preparedness/inclination to “think outside the box”.

• A self-aware and confident nature, with strong attention to detail.

• The ability to work within a dynamic team-based environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
