Financial Services partners with all areas of CommBank to provide specialist advice on financial management and strategy.

Group Finance is part of Financial Services and provides financial support to the Board, other business units and the Group’s shareholders. The team’s areas of focus include performance management, advice and governance, and they are responsible for monthly reporting to the Board; external reporting to analysts and shareholders.

The Group Support Services Finance (GSSF) team is part of Group Finance, partnering with senior leadership of the bank’s Financial Services, Property, Marketing, Strategy, Risk, Human Resources and Legal functions. GSSF manages the end-to-end finance functions for these support units, and collaborates regularly with the other business unit finance teams throughout the organisation. The team manages a significant portion of the Group’s cost base, and has direct engagement and exposure to many members of the Bank’s senior leadership team.

The purpose of the role is to provide finance support to Group Legal & Governance and Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs. You will own the day-to-day finance operations and regular deliverables.

Do work that matters:

  • Management reporting: successfully own the month-end process, complete monthly submissions to Group Finance, and report the monthly result to senior business stakeholders across the Group Legal & Governance and Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs portfolio
  • Planning & forecasting: manage the revenue and expense budgets and forecasts for Group Legal & Governance and Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs
  • Financial control: conducting detailed reviews of balance sheet and P&L with a mindset to continuously improve and maintain a strong financial control environment
  • Business partnering: work closely with the core team to track performance and milestones, and apply financial and accounting acumen to assist with decision making including engaging SMEs within Group Finance where required
  • Decision support: review forecasts and constructively challenge assumptions where required

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • CA/CPA/CFA qualification
  • Experience in management or financial accounting
  • Commercial acumen and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent customer & continuous improvement focus
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and execution
  • High degree of competence in Excel
