Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK, providing health services for 500,000 people living within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, and tertiary / specialised services to a wider population across Mid and South Wales.

The UHB is seeking an enthusiastic and diligent individual to join the Finance Commissioning Team, supporting the Commissioning Accountant and Principal Finance Manager. The Team is pivotal to the organisation, reporting and managing contractual and non-contractual flows that represent £343m of income and £178m of expenditure annually.

In a complex organisation of this size, the contracting and commissioning agenda is significant and the role presents an excellent opportunity to understand and support the financial processes surrounding patient flows within Wales and cross border.

The successful candidate will primarily support the management of non-contract activity, including the processing of invoices, analysis and scrutiny of charges and liaison with English and Scottish providers. This requires a proactive approach with strong communication skills and an ability to interpret and apply cross border protocols and guidance, building sound relationships and managing conflict.

The post holder will also provide support the wider contracting and commissioning agenda, including month-end processes around non-contract income, preparation of monitoring information / datasets and responding to ad hoc queries which may be patient or financially sensitive.

The post is based in Woodland House however working from home is required in line with Welsh Government guidelines.
