The opportunity

As a Transfer Pricing Director, you'll thoroughly and accurately analyze information, apply economic/financial knowledge to client situations and develop effective approaches to clients' financial circumstances. Subsequently, you'll take a lead in developing recommendations and implementation plans.

You'll also develop and deliver transfer pricing and economic ideas through timely, responsive services/products, and identify transfer pricing opportunities. You'll prepare documentation, participate in advance pricing agreements (APAs) and defend transfer pricing in audits.

As a Director, you'll also lead implementation of strategically important ideas for the team at large as well as develop practical planning services to clients based on the changing regulatory environment. Your remit will include motivating and managing client service team members and contributing to the achievement of team goals. As a role model for Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM), you'll determine all client work is delivered to a high standard in accordance with Ernst & Young's Q&RM guidelines.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage engagement economics and communicate significant issues, fees and estimates-to-complete to partners and clients
  • Assist partners with generating new business opportunities and building client networks and relationships
  • Understand our service offerings and actively identify opportunities to serve clients better
  • Assist clients to manage day-to-day transfer pricing such as to manage goods pricing, determine transfer pricing adjustments that would be required at month, quarter and year-end, set up service charge mechanisms, royalty calculations etc.
  • Assist client to set up more automated data extraction to extract relevant data through understanding Country-by-Country reporting and Masterfile requirements
  • Work with other tax services team such as Operating Model & Effectiveness (OME) team in all OME projects with transactional design and implementation. When companies put in place new transactional models it would be a real differentiator to help them set up their systems to get to the right transfer price.
  • Build strong internal relationships within the transfer pricing team and across other services such as Advisory Finance transformation team, Tax Performance Advisory, FSO advisory team and etc.
  • Help staff to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring all levels of staff
  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for all levels of staff
  • Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting, retaining and training transfer pricing professionals
  • Maintain an educational program to develop personal skills on an ongoing basis
  • Understand, follow and communicate workplace policies and procedures to all levels of staff

Skills and attributes for success

  • Analyzing information, applying economic and financial knowledge to client situations, and developing effective approaches to clients' financial circumstances
  • Taking a lead in developing recommendations and implementation plans
  • Developing and delivering transfer pricing and economic ideas with timely, responsive services and work products, and identify opportunities for transfer pricing and other services
  • Managing transfer pricing engagements and business development initiatives
  • Assisting in managing engagement economics by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders
  • Build strong internal relationships within the transfer pricing team and across other services

To qualify for the role you must have

  • One or more of the following: an advanced degree in economics, law, finance, tax or accounting; CPA or a similar certification
  • Minimum of 13 years of transfer pricing experience and an understanding of complex transfer pricing concepts
  • Extensive experience in the following:
    • Designing and implementing principal models
    • Handling advisory engagements which deal with the interlinkage of incentives, customs and other indirect taxes and transfer pricing principles
    • Handling outbound accounts and global documentation projects
  • Multi country work experience in handling transfer pricing engagements
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, project management, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills
