Transactional Finance Manager

Role: Ledger Manager

Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 + benefits

Location: Huddersfield

Overview:

This role will manage and run the Purchase and Sales Ledger function. Reporting into the Senior Financial Controller you will manage the fast paced transactional teams. You will also be responsible for the development of purchase ledgers, sales ledgers and accounts assistants whilst supporting them throughout their career journey with my client.

You will look at process improvements for these teams and will set objectives in order to run the department smoothly. You are encouraged to offer transformational outlook into any improvements that can be made and must be somebody who can communicate with both internal and external

Management of the Purchase Ledger team, in accordance with company policies and procedures, and support with training as required. This includes completing annual appraisals for the team and 1-2-2's for the team.

Lead the PL team working towards AP Automation, an ongoing project. Management of the Sales Ledger Supervisor, including 1-2-1's and annual appraisal and assist with the management of the sales ledger team. Ensure both ledgers are maintained and clean, with allocations up to date Drill in to process and procedures and make suggestions for improvement

Assisting with audit queries at year end. Work with the Deputy and Group Financial Controller to ensure we offer the best 'service' to internal and external customers/stakeholders. Create a good network of communications internally and work with other departments to improve internal processes

The Role:

• Leading the sales and purchase ledger teams on a one to one basis
• Managing any projects from start to finish
• Manging and complex discrepancies or query escalations
• Assisting with year end and audit processes
• Assisting in accounts preparation for monthly management accounts
• Recruiting, developing and leading a finance team
• Ensuring a clean ledger with accounts up to date

Requirements

Team management or supervisory experience Strong Analytical and technical skills Accountancy related degree or AAT qualified Able to multitask and work in a fast paced ever changing environment. Highly organised to achieve the objectives in a fast-paced business. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Finance background Ability to work to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

• Preferred to hold a qualification in AAT
• Experience of finance management in a medium to large organisation
• Previous experience managing a transactional finance function
• Preferably from the retail, manufacturing or distribution sector
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail; keen on control and audit
• Professional, approachable with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and achieve objectives under pressure
• Highly analytical and methodical
• Possess completer/finished tendencies and is solutions-focused when faced with issues
• Excellent IT and numerical skills (including excel)
