Leading Educational provider is seeking a Business Analyst for a 12 months fixed term assignment to be part of a new program to uplift and transform the organizations IT.

The types of projects to be assigned span various ICT domains, including data centre technologies and site wide IT infrastructure, business applications (SaaS), cyber security, end-user technologies, data management platforms and business intelligence capabilities. Therefore an ability to adapt to different project needs, resources and supplier services is crucial.

Current projects will mostly follow a Waterfall implementation methodology and therefore the IT Business Analyst will be required to document requirements in a SMART way, to ensure suitable traceability through to each Solution Design exists, and to enable test criteria to be easily developed and executed. Some projects may be delivered via Agile or an Agile-Waterfall hybrid and it is expected the IT Business Analyst will adapt their role accordingly.

You will also be required to perform the following:
  • Work collaboratively with project sponsors, stakeholders, cross-functional teams and assigned project resources to analyse and interpret functional and non-functional requirements to enable applicable solution designs to be developed with full requirements traceability
  • Identify and document requirements using SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic & Time Related) techniques ensuring priority is understood and there is clear delineation between want and need
  • Model business processes and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Identify issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts
  • Ensure all required Business Analysis and related project artefacts are developed, maintained and approved (where applicable)
  • Assist the Test Analyst or other applicable resources to develop suitable test criteria for each solution and where required assist with solution testing activities
  • Support business transition activities to enable changes implemented to be embedded quickly; including documenting solution use-cases to identify roles impacted and change management/training plans required
  • Where required, assist with ICT procurement activities to assess and/or advise on suitability of ICT solutions, products and services being proposed


To be successful in this position you will be a highly experienced Business Analyst who has experience working on a broad range of IT projects. You will also have solid experience in being able to Identify and document requirements using SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic & Time Related) techniques. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem solving skills are a must. Prior experience working in the education sector would be an advantage.
