Reporting to the Audit and Accounts Manager, with appropriate guidance and support, you will:
· Draft working papers to support the preparation of accounts for sole traders and small limited companies, including:
- Production of lead schedules to agree to accounts disclosures
- Production and reconciliation of control accounts
- Collation of appropriate evidence to support figures in the accounts
- Drafting sole trader/company tax computations
- Raising relevant and coherent queries to assist with supervisor/manager review
· Assist with audit field work (often attending clients’ premises) including:
- Completing statutory sections of audit file
- Making detailed system notes
- Journal testing
- Preparing trial balance and identifying errors in basic accounting
- Income and expenses testing, payroll testing, stock testing
- Bank and cash testing
- Assisting in preparing comprehensive working papers
- Work with different accounting software packages including Sage, Quickbooks, Xero
- Learn double entry and bookkeeping skills
- Communicating with clients
- Support other departments within the firm as and when needed
