Finance Manager, Temporary 6 months, Sydney

A temporary opportunity has become available for a manager with aFinance/Management accounting background to join the digital.nsw finance team inthe Department of Customer Service for a period of initially six months. Youwill have the opportunity to be hands on Finance Manager of DCS SpatialServices in the delivery of day-to-day finance and management reporting, majorperiodic financial reporting, assisting with the financial management ofsignificant IT projects being developed by Spatial Services, and budgetpreparation. Also, year-end reporting, statutory reporting and audit processes.Spatial Services has over 250 full time equivalent employees mostly based inBathurst NSW and is the principal mapping agency for the state of NSW.

This is a busy role is based in the McKell Building in Sydney'sHaymarket but initially the role will bemostly work from home in line with current Covid safe practices.

The key elements of role are:

All Finance management for Spatial Services including;

  • Financial advise to management of Spatial Services as required
  • Management reporting
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Labour force forecasting and reporting
  • Financial reporting/audit for a small related statutory entity
  • Project accounting and WIP management for a number of NSW IT Projects
  • Year end and early close reporting packs
  • Support of audit requirements
  • Fixed asset/project reporting
  • Assisting with on other digital.nsw projects
  • Supervision of one supporting employee
  • Utilising insights and financial data you will enable management to makeinformed business decision and ensure the financial performance of SpatialServices and related projects is consistent with best practise

Inaddition, you will provide financial accounting services, expert advice andreport across a program of strategic projects to achieve commercial outcomes.
You will join a supportive culture offering flexibility and professionalchallenges. Key to this role is interdependencies and balancing competingdemands in line with agreed timelines, targets and expected level of quality toensure organisational objectives are achieved.

No two days are the same so you will be busy balancing the applicationof risk management to ensure appropriate controls and monitoring mechanisms aremaintained to protect state finances while meeting organisational needs. Youwill also influence stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of the best outcomesfor the Cluster, financial data integrity and maintenance of appropriatecontrols.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Show strong initiative and be a self-starter
  • Financial and management accounting experience including review and substantiation of project costs
  • Good understanding of financial reporting and audit process
  • Exceptional financial modelling skills
  • Experience in working in a customer oriented team
  • Engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Previous experience with SAP


Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role startingat $131,094 base plus superannuation
