The job: Senior External Reporting Accountant

Thermo Fisher Scientific has an exciting opportunity within the Corporate Reporting team as an External Reporting Accountant. The role is part of the continued expansion of the EMEA Finance Centre of Excellence (COE), with the successful candidate being a key team member, managing a defined population of legal entities which serve a range of Thermo Fisher Scientific business divisions.

The successful candidate will be a key point of contact within the team, with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to effectively manage and prioritize deliverables in a fast paced, often changing, environment! Experience of statutory accounting/external audit, along with the knowledge to be able apply accounting principles, is essential for this role.

What will you do?

  • Preparation of the statutory financial statements and leading the completion of the statutory audit for a range of UK legal entities, ensuring adherence to the external reporting timetable.
  • Maintain clear communication with external auditors throughout the audit process.
  • Preparation of annual board packs and report financial performance to stakeholders.
  • Run engagement with external advisers to ensure corporation tax returns are completed, reviewed and filed on time.
  • Coordinate and track statutory process for UK entities outside the Corporate Reporting team.
  • Preparation of central procedures reporting for statutory audit purposes.
  • Lead and own any tax audits that may be imposed by the tax authorities.
  • Point of contact for technical accounting matters.
  • Monthly USGAAP reporting
  • Complete/coordinate local statistical reporting requirements set by authorities.
  • Play a key part in creating processes that are scalable to support a global strategic model.
  • Work with the wider team on PPI (process improvements).

Who we are looking for:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent with a professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Proactive problem solver with a focus on delivering high quality output within strict deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of integrity, trust and strong compliance orientation.
  • Ability to work effectively within a wider international team.
  • Proficient user of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
