This position sits in Advanced Reporting within Global Analytics and Automation in Global Business Services based in Cambridge, UK. Our key priorities are to provide reporting across the entire range of AZ business areas, working with our customers to define key metrics and accessing the data to automate and productionise metrics reporting.

You will have the ability to think strategically, managing senior stakeholders to understand their needs and anticipate future requirements.

Working with a team of data professionals on a range of projects from across the busines to automate analytics you will be able to influence the future of AZ. These projects can range from Commercial support enabling a $20m profit opportunity, Finance identifying areas of focus for the Month End close and Operations simplifying the delivery of Product Costing analytics.

You will be able to establish a pipeline of activities, clearly prioritised and governed; constantly reviewing potential technology solutions to ensure the most appropriate tools are used to deliver this pipeline. You will work with our partners in IT in the UK and Chennai and their team to ensure effective delivery of their project backlog.

For internal applicantions we are open to appointing this hire at grades E/F.

Role responsibilities:

This position will provide the link between the business, Advanced Reporting and IT.

You will be responsible for working with stakeholders to understand metric definitions, data requirements and reporting frequencies. You will work with IT and their teams to turn these requirements into automated outputs.

You will lead a team of 5 to 10 data professionals using Agile project approaches to manage the teams workload. You will use quarterly planning sessions to set the teams agenda for the next three months.

You will be confident managing project scope with senior stakeholders, sharing product demo's with them and able to deal with the uncertainty that their changing requirements can bring.

Essential skills and experience
  • Candidates must have knowledge of SAP
  • They will have an understanding of Data Analytics, data modelling and working with large data sets outside excel
  • They will have experience of data visualisation software
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to quickly build relationships with customers
  • They will be familiar with Agile project management techniques as well as scripting eg VBA, SQL, etc


Desirable skills and experience
  • Ideally candidates will have a finance qualification
  • Experience of working within a global organisation, preferably within the Pharmaceuticals sector
