Role: Assistant Accountant

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 depending on experience

Location: Halifax

My client:

My client is a dynamic, exciting and forward thinking product distributor with a worldwide presence. They provide services for spaces around the globe in some of the most icon buildings.

Role Summary:

The role would ideally suit someone with 2+ years finance experience, has a basic understanding of accounting concepts who is looking to progress their career. There would be a lot of emphasis on analysis of KPI's and stock/costings so some experience in this would be desirable and strong excel/analytics is required.

Lastly my client's team are progressive and dynamic and the role would suit someone of this nature. Whilst it is essentially a new role they are creating, the client believes there is an opportunity for progression into various parts of the business for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

STOCK MANAGEMENT - Including and not limited to:
  • Regular monitoring and analysis of stock levels and trend analysis
  • Procurement of stock from parent company
  • Calculation of landed costs
  • Continuous process improvement
  • GP & GM analysis


DAY TO DAY ACCOUNTS PROCESSING - Including and not limited to:
  • Purchase/Sales ledger management
  • Invoice processing
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Debtors
  • Fixed Assets
  • Creditors
  • Current assets - Bank, Stock
  • Accruals/Prepayments
  • Cash book/banking management
  • Credit Cards/Expenses


CREDIT CONTROL
  • Credit account management
  • Debtor chasing


ADDITIONAL DUTIES/AD HOC REPORTING & ANALYSIS
  • Sales, GM/GP
  • Stock - Trends/Variances
  • Expenses - Overhead analysis
  • Carbon Emissions
  • Transport
  • VAT Returns
  • Assistant with monthly management accounts preparation


Experience required:
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • 2 Years experience in Finance
  • High level mathematics/numeric understanding
  • Understanding/presentation of variance analysis
  • Basic AAT/Undergrad degree in Business/Finance


Technical desired but not essential:
  • Experience in procurement/stock management
  • Purchase ordering
  • Duty/VAT
  • Landed costing
  • Bookkeeping
  • Double entry
  • Accrual/prepayments


Systems desired but not essential:
  • LOW - MID LEVEL EXCEL SKILLS - Including and not limited to:
  • Functions such as lookups, sumif, average,
  • Pivot tables
  • Data to graphical presentation
  • SAGE 50 or other ERP system
