I am currently supporting a highly successful pensions & Investment business looking to recruit a 100% office based Compliance Officer who will work alongside the business and report to the Senior Compliance Director. This role requires the main focus of FCA Compliance, including Compliance Crime.

Main Purpose of the Role:

• To provide an effective systems and controls framework across the Group, to ensure compliance with all regulatory regimes under which the business operates

• The focus is primarily on FCA compliance but also encompasses compliance with the Data Protection Act and Proceeds of Crime Act, as well as others

• To ensure that the business is carrying out permitted activities, by way of undertaking monitoring reviews to demonstrate compliance

• To undertake responsibilities required of the Money Laundering Reporting Officer as set out in regulations

• To assist in the development and maintenance of effective systems and processes within the Business Group

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement the objectives set out in the compliance policies and Compliance Monitoring Programme

• With the ongoing day to day support and backing of the Senior Management Team, provide effective systems and controls framework across the organisation to ensure compliance with all regulatory regimes under which the business operates

• To manage comprehensive monitoring programmes, covering all aspects of the Business, to check that the Business continues to be conducted in compliance with all relevant regulatory obligations, to report to the Senior Managers all significant exceptions, and to check that actual or potential breaches are remedied promptly and appropriately

• Advise employees on regulatory obligations, including advising on regulatory developments and on procedures required to ensure compliance with these obligations

• Carry out reviews or focus on areas where new risks have been identified

• Employees to receive training in complaint handling procedures

• Employees to receive appropriate training in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) prevention and other financial crime related subjects

• Also ensure effective systems and controls are at all times, to manage and minimise the risk of losses to clients or to the business from errors, irregularities or fraud

• Also to monitor all aspects of the business to identify actual or potential weaknesses of internal controls, so that prompt remedial action may be taken by Senior Management

• To recognise potential instances of fraud and money laundering and, where agreed, report these instances to the appropriate authority

• To understand Joint Money Laundering Steering Group guidance and apply it to AML policies and procedural reviews

• To ensure a AML risk analysis is in place, and that this is reviewed regularly - usually annually

• To keep up to date with changes to AML and financial crime issues and trends

• To monitor proposed changes in legislation with particular relevance to compliance of all regulatory regimes

• To ensure that regulatory reporting requirements are met

• To assist in identifying, investigating and rectifying rule breaches, and fulfil any associated reporting requirements

• Assist in providing advice and coaching to employees to enable them to deliver process improvements which are fully compliant with relevant regulatory requirements

• To co-ordinate the handling of client complaints
