Our Submarines Business

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

Assistant Project Accountant

Would you like to be a key part of the supporting the delivery of the financials for External Programmes for Complex Systems? We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Project Accountant at our site in Frimley.

As an Assistant Project Accountant, you will be ensuring appropriate adherence to business financials and governance processes. You will be joining a team of 4 people in the Integrated Combat Systems Projects team & working with a wider team of 11.

This role will provide you with have the opportunity to have responsibility early on, you will be offering 1st class service for important stakeholders.

BAE offer support to enhance your learning with recognised training & qualification, this will contribute to career development within the business, both within the initial team & wider Finance function.

Your main responsibilities as a Assistant Project Accountant will involve:

    Assisting with project reviews through the delivery of monthly Summary Status Reports, Contract Status Reports, trading plans and Monthly Report inputs (Orders, Sales, Margin, Cash) across a number of projects, ensuring all outputs are robustly tasked with the project teams.Delivering Support to the development of Single Source Regulatory Office (SSRO) reporting on QDC contracts as they are contracted during their placement.Helping support to the Delivery of monthly accounts for Integrated Combat Systems.Develop and delivery of critical monthly governance activities such as Monthly Reports to Contract Status Report, Orderbook, and Negative WIP Reconciliations, while developing opportunities for the strengthening of the governances inputs.

Your skills and qualifications:

    Good knowledge or work experience of Accounting at an assistant levelCurrently holds or is working towards accounting related qualificationsGood I.T. Skills, in particular Microsoft Excel, Project and PowerPoint
