The opportunity: your next adventure awaits

Washington Council Ernst & Young’s (WCEY) legislative practice specializes in the development and implementation of tax legislative and regulatory solutions for companies, associations and other stakeholders in all sectors. WCEY represents clients before the Congress and the Executive Branch to address virtually all aspects of federal tax policy. You’ll work with some of the world’s most prestigious businesses, and in return you can expect an incredible range of projects and responsibilities that will support your career growth.

EY is a leader in synthesizing global developments and advising our clients. This role would allow you to work with a team of professionals to research, write and communicate legislative and regulatory policy developments in the tax arena and to help clients formulate and execute federal government relations strategies before Congress and in the Executive Branch. This diversity of backgrounds allows us to look at situations from multiple perspectives, helping clients efficiently reach their objectives. This position offers excellent opportunities for teaming, leadership and career advancement.

Your key responsibilities:

As a staff, you will be working with other team members to help develop tax policy legislative thought leadership materials, produce industry specific content, work with clients and policymakers on tax legislative and regulatory issues, and help develop and execute legislative strategies. This is a highly regulated industry, so it’s all about maintaining our reputation as trusted advisors by taking on bold initiatives and owning new challenges.

  • Writing and developing legislative content and collateral for clients as well as materials to apprise the firm about important policy developments. Knowing how to sort out relevant information from noise is very important
  • Preparing written products for use in conjunction with WCEY's thought leadership and market-facing activities
  • Demonstrating a deep understanding of complex health care policy issues, the federal legislative and regulatory process, and the impact of health care legislation and regulation on various health care stakeholders
  • Maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products
  • Enhancing service delivery; keeping team members informed of work status; proactively seeking opportunities to provide services; and challenging traditional procedures used in the past and attempting to find effective approaches

What we look for:

  • You have an agile, growth-oriented mindset. What you know matters. But the right mindset is just as important in determining success. We’re looking for people who are innovative, can work in an agile way and keep pace with a rapidly changing world.
  • You are curious and purpose driven. We’re looking for people who see opportunities instead of challenges, who ask better questions to seek better answers that build a better working world.
  • You are inclusive. We’re looking for people who seek out and embrace diverse perspectives, who value differences, and team inclusively to build safety and trust.

Qualifications.

  • A Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, health policy, journalism, English, communications, or business or a related degree
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Professional presence and confidence and organizational abilities
  • Strong Microsoft office skills - specifically Word, PowerPoint, & Excel
  • Relevant experience through summer employment/internships
  • Experience in research, writing, legislative reporting, government relations and developing and producing materials on health care policy

  • Broaden your horizons by working on highly integrated teams across the globe and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds — both professionally and culturally.
  • Bring out the best in yourself with continuous investment in your personal well-being and career development.
  • Develop your own personal purpose and help us create a positive ripple effect on our teams, our business, clients and society – building a better working world, together.

In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
