Group Internal Audit is part of the corporate governance structure of Singtel Group, reporting functionally to the Singtel Audit Committee and administratively to the Group CEO through Group Chief Internal Auditor. The primary role of Group Internal Audit is to perform risk based assurance reviews and internal control advisory work based on the Annual Internal Audit Plan approved by the Singtel Audit Committee and adhoc requests from the Audit Committee, or Senior Management in Singtel. Based on these reviews, it is Internal Audit's responsibility to report significant control weaknesses and areas of improvements to internal control systems and ensure that management have taken appropriate actions to address them.

The main responsibility of Internal Audit is to ensure the Annual Internal Audit Plan is completed effectively and efficiently and fraud investigations are carried out timely, thoroughly and effectively. The work done by Internal Audit and the results thereof provide one of the primary bases of the Board's annual opinion issued to shareholders on the adequacy of internal controls addressing financial, operational and compliance risks required by the SGX Listing Rule.

It is the responsibility of the Director, Group Internal Audit (NCS) to ensure that the corporate governance responsibilities of Group Internal Audit in relation to NCS are managed appropriately through the day-to-day operations of the NCS audit team.

The Director, Group Internal Audit, NCS has overall responsibility and accountability for all NCS internal audit matters including liaising with senior and top management of NCS to ensure the company's control environment, risk management and internal control systems are adequate, effective and efficient.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of an annual audit plan/schedule and other audit projects in agreement with relevant stakeholders and aligned with key risks and strategies of NCS
  • Managing resources at required level of expertise to execute against audit schedule
  • Timely execution of audits required as per schedule
  • Allowing flexibility for additional/unplanned audits to be completed
  • Producing thorough reports and records of audit process and outputs
  • Providing appropriate recommendations on audit outputs, consulting with appropriate managers at all levels
  • Review business processes to ascertain the adequacy, efficiency and effectiveness of risk management and internal control processes
  • Identify business processes and internal control weaknesses and recommend practical and value added solutions to management to improve operations, reduce costs and mitigate risks
  • Review and submit the audit planning memorandum (APM) to GCIA for approval
  • Ensure audit work is effectively and efficiently executed and issues noted are adequately followed up by management
  • Review audit reports (draft and final reports) before submission to GCIA and Senior Management and ensure finalised reports are communicate to relevant business stakeholders in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Supervises and review of workpapers by the NCS audit team.
  • Provide education, advice and guidance to the business on internal control, and fraud matters
  • Provide all team members with clear objectives and KPIs, ensuring performance reviews and feedback is provided appropriately
  • Consult with team on annual plan and changes affecting their work, ensure team members have the knowledge and skill sets required to complete their duties
  • Coach and develop team members to improve their skills
  • Create a positive team environment, where team members can learn from one another and information is shared.
  • Manage team resources appropriately and recruit and train new employees within the team
  • Promote a high degree of professionalism among the team members by implementing internal audit best practices including conforming with the IIA


The succesful candidate should possess:
  • At least a Degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting) and is CA/CPA qualified •
  • Min 10 - 12 years audit experience, at least 5 years as senior manager / Associate Director position. Experience within Big 4 will be a plus.
  • Experience in IT Services industry
  • Extensive audit experience on risk assessment, process and control review, implementation and advice. Including knowledge of COSO, IIA Standards, CSA, etc.
  • Broad experience with different business processes
  • Coaching and mentoring experience
  • Strong project, planning and time management skills
  • Strong analytical, methodical skills and attention to detail
  • People management and development ability
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written including ability to question, actively listen and interpret information
  • Strong customer focus, Confident, strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish trust and communicate at all levels
  • Previous experience engaging members of Senior and / or Top Management
  • Influencing and negotiation skills, persuasiveness
  • Self-managed and demonstrates initiatives, ability to be self-directed and disciplined
  • High proficiency level in MS Office
  • Polished word publishing experience (reporting succinct and clearly laid out information at a senior level)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
