Lecturer (Accounting and Analytics) - School of Business

The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. Not only will he/she have both the knowledge and working experience, he/she must also possess a passion for working with both adult and youth learners, nurturing them and influencing their developments. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce new courses as well as be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will be an important part of the job too.  Successful candidates will be expected to be resourceful and innovative with initiative and good communication skills.

The appointee must be competent to teach in the following areas:

  • Taxation
  • Advanced Financial Accounting,
  • Accounting Analytics,
  • Financial Planning and Analysis

Responsibilities:-

  • Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials, and facilitate learning for both Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) students.
  • Develop and maintain new/existing teaching curriculum. This includes review/audit of existing curriculum to make recommendations on areas of improvements that would enhance students’ performance, learning and employability.
  • Support the development of PET and CET modules with infusion of Accounting Analytics and Technology where necessary.
  • Keep current and abreast of trends and developments in the area of Accounting Analytics and Technology so that curriculum is up to date.
  • Contributes to the development of the Accounting Analytics and Technology capability in the teaching team.
  • Support the School’s strategic initiatives through involvement in committee work and projects such as process improvement projects, development and management of new courses, industry connections and projects
  • Handle administrative work relating to teaching.

Requirements:- 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an executive position in Taxation, Financial Accounting, Cost/ Management Accounting or Auditing
  • Have considerable experience in Financial Planning and Analysis in the most recent 2 years
  • Relevant qualification(s) in Accounting
  • Involved in the strategic reviews of business operations and possess hands-on experience in analyzing business data in the course of work
  • Technically savvy and highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or business and accounting analytics
  • Self-driven, independent and possesses readiness to work as a team
  • Working experience of SQL, MS Power BI and/or Tableau is highly preferred
  • Candidates who possess relevant experience in training/teaching will have an added advantage

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
