You will:

As a Vice President within the Regulatory Controller organisation in Glasgow the successful candidate will play a key lead role in ensuring the ongoing regulatory compliance and reporting of the Firm’s material entities in the EMEA region.

The role will also require participation in the continued development of the Regulatory Controller function in Glasgow and EMEA, partnering with other stakeholders across the Firm, including:

  • assessing and implementing processes for new regulatory requirements
  • re-engineering and standardisation of existing processes to reduce risk / enhance controls
  • delivery of ongoing regulatory-specific initiatives and projects
  • contributing to the regulatory control framework, ensuring compliance with client requirements, internal policy, and ad-hoc requests.

Detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Team Management and staff development locally in Glasgow and oversight of remote teams in other locations to ensure compliance with existing regulatory reporting guideline
  • Exercise judgement to prioritise workload, ensure issues are escalated and managed
  • Partner across calculation and reporting teams, to ensure materials are prepared and reviewed for use in sign off forums that support key internal and external reporting submissions and for Senior Management (New York, Frankfurt, and London).
  • Lead the assessment and development of new Regulatory reporting requirements for Credit Risk (e.g.: CRRII, CRRIII) and Market Risk (i.e.: FTRB)
  • Build effective relationships within the Global Regulatory team and with other stakeholders across the firm and seek ways to improve hand-offs.
  • Support the strategic development of Firm systems? e.g. partnering with IT to enhance functionality and data sources,
  • Support maintenance and development of documentation in line with internal audit and other best practice guidelines to the standard that can be shared with Regulators e.g.: PRA, BaFin, ACPR.

Qualifications

You have:

  • Work experience within large Financial services firms or other directly relevant experience (commensurate with role being applied for).
  • An Accounting / Finance / Mathematical degree or equivalent
  • A professional accountancy qualification would be beneficial e.g. ICAS, ACCA, CIMA.
  • The ability to work effectively within a local and global team, as well as independently.
  • Experience of managing local and remote teams.
  • The flexibility required to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to developing their own skills.
  • Close attention to detail and are highly numerate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team Profile: The Regulatory controller team in Glasgow (Reg) has final responsibility for a series of regulatory capital processes across Market Risk, Back testing, Banking & Trading Book boundary, Credit Risk, Own Funds and Leverage. The team is also accountable for the associated external reporting including CoRep and Pillar III related disclosures that is produced by support teams in other locations.
  • Given this broad remit the team work closely with a wide range of clients and stakeholders globally, e.g. the Credit Risk and Market risk departments, Operations, Regulatory Policy, and various Business Units. This breadth of interaction provides an excellent opportunity to learn and interact with a range of businesses and products across the firm. The Reg Controllers team in Glasgow is part of the Global Reg function that also has a footprint in London, Frankfurt, New York, and across Asia.
