About us:

The technical accounting team help clients deal with more complicated transactions and accounting, such as business acquisitions and disposals, that they don’t see on a day to day basis. They also help clients with the group consolidations and prepare more complicated accounts. This means that quite often the team are an extension of the clients finance team, helping them work through more difficult areas of accounting or provide additional resource around audit time. The team’s role is to help clients deal with their auditors, with areas they aren’t familiar with and where there may be more than one accounting answer.

The role:

We have one vacancy and are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates, who share our Values and have an interest in attaining the ACA qualification, to join our Technical Accounting team. The successful candidate will join us as an Apprentice with study support provided towards the completion of the ACA qualification.

Key accountabilities:

Main Duties:

  • Performing group consolidations 
  • Calculating and presenting disclosures for financial statements 
  • Researching technical queries under both UK GAAP and IFRS to help find solutions to client problems / queries 
  • Retaining responsibility for own work 
  • Managing multiple tasks and having an awareness of deadlines 
  • Preparation of statutory accounts from client records 
  • Completion of corporation tax returns including ixbrl tagging of submissions

Skills & experience:

Person Specification Education/Qualifications: 

  • The successful applicant will have good numeracy and literacy skills 
  • Applicants must hold, or be predicted to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree and hold minimum C grade A levels, or equivalent level of qualification 

Key Skills: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written 
  • Drive and ambition to work within a progressive and commercial environment 
  • Excellent organisational ability 
  • Highly numerate and analytical 
  • A strong attention to detail 
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and work on own initiative

Other:

This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) with a proposed start date of 5 September 2022. Salary and benefits will be discussed at interview, with benefits including a fully funded study package, on-the-job training, mentoring and flexi-time. Assessment days will take place in February with interviews in March 2022.
