Join our Risk Management team and help protect EY from risks that arise from its professional services.Risk Management teams provide coordinated advice and assistance on independence, conflicts, regulatory and risk management issues, as well assupporting our people in managing the risks that arise in our daily working lives. You will work closely with all parts of the organization to identify, manage, and monitor risk by providing coordinated advice and assistance on independence, compliance, regulatory, and ethical issues.

By assisting our teams with both quarterly and annual compliance within large multinational private equity ownership complexes you will be directly supporting EY’s strategic vision by supporting one of our most important client bases. Your key responsibilities:

For private equity sponsors and their investment portfolio companies, you’ll possess subject matter knowledge enabling you to develop and execute monitoring programs to (i) assess compliance, (ii) track findings, (iii) provide action-based results to client serving teams, and (iv) assist in remediating issues with key stakeholders. You'll provide research and analysis on targeted risk management areas of focus relating to large, complex private equity ownership complexes that will work to mitigate potential independence related breaches and ensure the firm’s risk management process is protected. As part of EY’s U.S. Independence team, you’ll have the opportunity to work and communicate directly with other members of the Independence team along with EY client serving teams and client personnel tasked with monitoring and maintaining EY’s overall independence.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of ongoing private equity independence monitoring that is effective, measurable, and impactful to our client serving teams and clients.
  • Execute detailed monitoring programs to validate ongoing compliance with SEC and other regulatory related independence regulations
  • Understand and apply key requirements of firm and regulators’ independence rules and policies.
  • Act as a liaison between EY personnel, other members of the Independence risk management team, and various functional areas within the firm in assessing compliance.
  • Develop and manage reporting related to various monitoring reviews to provide timely feedback on compliance across a variety of measures.
  • Build and leverage a network of contacts within risk management and across the firm.
  • Challenge existing processes and approaches to enhance operational efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, and/or customer service and offer innovative ideas for improvement.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Ability to learn and understand the firm and regulators’ independence rules and policies as well as familiarity with other risk management initiatives outside of area of expertise.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and activities in a timely manner and be responsible for specific outcomes.
  • Basic knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong research skills and ability to apply sound business judgment to individual and team assignments.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and responsive customer service skills.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • 1-3 plus years professional services experience.
