We’ll help you succeed

You’ll be a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Advisory (Internal Audit) team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of Financial Services providing internal audit services and other internal control and regulatory reviews. You’ll be leading the planning of engagements and organising the delivery of the work and sometime directly leading more complex assignments. You’ll play an important role in developing and maintaining deep client relationships and in developing members of the BDO team. You’ll have the opportunity to further develop specialist sub sector, technical and regulatory knowledge and be involved in both business and team development. You’ll also;

  • Managing internal audit internal control and regulatory assignments for Financial Services clients, including plan, organisation of resources and review
  • Creating, managing and delivering internal audit reviews and regulatory assurance reviews within the Financial Services sector and making value-add recommendations to senior management
  • Supporting the Partner and Director to develop and deliver the annual internal audit plan
  • Leading relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Representing BDO at client meetings and attending senior management committee meetings
  • Involvement in key activities, which may include recruitment, budgeting, resource allocation, quality assurance etc.

  • Significant experience of internal audit or regulatory assurance experience working within or with Financial Services for at least 1 year of that and involving the leading of teams
  • Strong knowledge of the Financial Services sector and the UK regulatory environment. It will be an advantage to have in depth knowledge of one or more Financial Services sub sectors for example Asset Management, Banking, Capital Markets or Insurance
  • Have undertaken a range of internal audit or advisory assignments and have an understanding of internal audit methodology and techniques including planning
  • Recognised accountancy or internal audit professional qualifications and/or memberships i.e. ICAEW, CIMA, CIIA, ACCA etc.
  • Strong written / communication skills, ability to influence, lead, engage, and manage stakeholders
  • Ability to lead complex reviews and be a team player

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in the planning and delivery of Financial Service internal audit reviews, and reporting to Audit Committees and/or regulatory assurance reviews
  • Functional knowledge of the UK regulatory environment with deeper knowledge of some Financial Services sub sectors and the risks that they face
  • Understanding of risk management and internal control
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
  • Sound technical knowledge of financial products and / or customer-facing regulated activities
  • Strong project management skills and a track record of successful delivery
  • Expertise in leading teams successfully
