The organisation are a market leading civil engineering company who are specialise in projects across a number of sectors across the UK. They are a successful company who have an excellent reputation in the industry.

Description

Reporting into the Finance Director & working in close proximity with the office Manager; the Commercial Accountant will be responsible for the planning and analysis across various operations and intrinsically involved in the strategic side of future developments and multiple live projects. This is a very exciting hands on role where you will be able to add instant value to the business. As well as being a technically strong accountant, you will liaise and partner across the business with senior stakeholders, consistently adding commercial value and solutions in a people orientated business.

Specifically, the responsibilities of the Commercial Accountant will include:

  • Preparation of monthly accounts (P&L and balance sheet), as well as a monthly board pack with detailed analysis and accompanying narrative for added context.
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts, liaising closely with external auditors.
  • Preparation of cashflow statements, demonstrating a clear understanding with this.
  • Develop the forecasting models (P&L, balance sheet and cashflow), analysing performance of past projects, key trends and market drivers.
  • Cost accounting, specifically working commercially with other areas of the business to provide improvements and solutions.
  • Liaise with QS regarding WIP, budgets and costings.

Profile

The successful applicant will be/have:

The successful applicant will be/have:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with post qualified industry experience.
  • Experience in construction and long term projects ideal.
  • Experience in practice desirable, with all rounded exposure to audit, tax and general practice.
  • Strong systems experience, with specifically Excel, Sage 950 and database management being desirable.
  • A strong communicator, possessing strong influencing skills and experience in business partnering across divisions outside of finance such as operations, sales and IT, and having an ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • A natural commercial flare, able to use their initiative to proactively identify opportunities and solutions.
  • Working closely with the Office Manager and providing support to the team as required.
  • An ability to thrive in a fast paced and evolving environment.
  • Diligent with strong attention to detail.
