Description

The Financial Accountant is responsible for oversight of accounting structure in accordance within the Group's IFRS framework and its German GAAP reporting requirements. With responsibility for completion and submission of all annual audited statutory financial statements, with the statutory result evaluated to ensure the reported operating profit position is in alignment with the Group's transfer pricing policy. The Financial Accountant is also responsible for overseeing EU and UK VAT compliance reporting obligations and ensuring day to day operational and transactional fit with all applicable VAT regulations. The role is also expected to support Group Manufacturing and Supply in terms of achieving an optimum VAT structure, balancing working capital and compliance with an agility to respond to changes in the Supply Chain.

* Oversight of accounting and financial reporting structures in accordance with IFRS and German GAAP requirements with guidance to the Finance team and other business stakeholders as required

* Maintain robust and transparent statutory records supporting the company's corporate tax reporting positions across the German parent company and its United Kingdom Branch

* Periodic review of the company's profit/loss position in relation to its cost base and distribution fees earnt throughout the financial year

* Completion and submission of annual German GAAP accounts and management reports in accordance with required timelines

* Liaison with company auditor schedules and information requests in respect of the Group's IFRS and German GAAP reporting requirements

* Responsible for ensuring the company's VAT inputs and outputs comply with relevant UK and EU VAT rules, with its VAT master data configured in the most optimal manner within SAP

* Responsible for overseeing the relationship with the company's external VAT compliance provider to ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT reporting obligations

* Oversight of the VAT and tax working capital and cashflow impacts and reporting into periodic internal working capital and cashflow submissions accordingly

* Provide business stakeholders with tax and VAT guidance and advice in relation to new or amended cross border operations and any impacts on the company's local VAT registrations

Profile

* Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA

* Sound knowledge of IFRS (and ideally German GAAP reporting requirements, however this is not essential)

* Sound knowledge of EU &UK VAT regulations and associated reporting requirements

* Experience of accounting and financial processes as characterised by a large multinational company, in particular an awareness of international transfer pricing concepts

* Experience of working with accounting and reporting configurations within an integrated ERP system, ideally SAP

* Ability to articulate tax and VAT requirements to the business

* A confident, yet collaborative, approach with internal and external stakeholders

* Strong Microsoft Excel skills

* Line management experience desireable
