Based out of warehouses in South Elmsall, we support our warehouse and distribution teams with all the data and information they could ever want. To help them plan the despatch and distribution of 14,000, 40-foot containers worth of stock per year to our 500 retail stores – and over 8 million online customers.

It’s safe to say our logistics operation is, well, huge. With over 7 million square feet of warehouse floor space. So, managing these operations in an efficient, cost effective way is about as important as it gets. Making sure our customers have a seamless experience starts here. While we’re finance teams, we work closely with operations at all times. Making this about as hands on as can be.

About the role:

This is a superb opportunity to join our dynamic Logistics finance team as the Senior Finance Manager for a worldwide logistics operation. It is an exciting time to join the team as many of the company’s growth aspirations are driven by the success of our logistics operation.

The team is responsible for delivering financial support to key stakeholders across the logistics operation and wider business. Some of the key responsibilities are as follows:

    Weekly review of key spend variables, communicating successes and challenging areas of risk with senior operational managers.Build proactive and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.Ensuring the periodic accounting process runs smoothly and that key deadlines are achieved, whilst maintaining a set of numbers that are accurate and that the senior finance team can have reliance upon.Provide a monthly finance update to Directors and senior managers, giving a clear view on variance to plan and year on year cost performance.Control both the bi-annual budget and periodic forecast process for the logistics operation. Working collaboratively with both logistics and head office stakeholders to establish that the correct variables are being modelled.Take ownership of the logistics capex forecasting and planning process. This is an area with an annual spend that can be in excess of £100m and is a key part of the company’s cash flow forecast.Ensure that investment appraisals are carried out for all relevant capex projects. These projects are wide ranging and examples include the appraisal of a new warehouse, the extension of an existing warehouse or the request for additional vehicles.Develop modelling and reporting for the logistics Total Platform operations. Ensuring potential clients are modelled accurately and existing clients are costed correctly.

    Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACAExperience of working in a fast paced environmentExperience of managing and developing a team of finance professionalsGood IT skills and a confident user of Microsoft ExcelExcellent communication skills with the experience of collaborating cross functionally across an organisationConfident in presenting to senior management and directorsGood time management skills, with the ability to respond to changing prioritiesStrong problem solving and analytical skillsA proactive and inquisitive mindset

This role will be a hybrid of home and office working. An office presence is essential as it will support the growth of the team, the building of key relationships and the development of operational knowledge. There will also be a requirement to be in head office (Enderby, Leicester) on occasion.
