Knowledge gathered from raw data has become a valuable commodity in the digital world of financial services. Here at Northern Trust, to support and implement a data-driven strategy and drive continuous innovation in the Audit Services (AS) department, we are amplifying our investments in our global Data Analytics (DA) team. Therefore, Northern Trust is seeking a Data Analytics Technology Lead, Manager II to oversee technology initiatives designed to enhance Audit Services’ operations across all phases of audits. This includes implementing technology including descriptive and predictive analytics, robotic process automation (RPA), and other artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. This candidate will also work with corporate IT and other Business Units to ensure that Audit Services’ data strategy aligns with efforts undertaken at the enterprise-level.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Audit Services technical analytics team, overseeing critical data projects within the department.
- Work with Audit Services partners to translate business needs into technology solutions.
- Oversee the development of data-driven dashboards, enabling users to unlock risk insights from disparate data sources.
- Develop a portfolio of rules-based analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs), designed to identify and continuously monitor risk.
- Seek opportunities for process automation, overseeing the development of robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities to drive efficiencies.
- Stay abreast on emerging technologies and practices and identifying opportunities to utilize these capabilities to meet Audit Services’ objectives.
- Collaborate with other analytics teams within Northern Trust to identify opportunities to strengthen risk management processes across the three lines of defense.
- Support strategic ad-hoc initiatives and special projects as needed, balancing multiple priorities.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in data analysis, data profiling, and the development of business intelligence and report visualization capabilities.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant audit experience (either public accounting or corporate internal audit)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistical Analysis, Data Analytics or equivalent required
- Advanced knowledge of logical data flows, relational database concepts, data integration techniques, Export Transform Load (ETL) processes and SQL best practices
- Advanced knowledge of analytical and advanced business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite, R, Python, Spark, H2O, Alteryx)
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical business leaders
- Ability to foster a positive and collaborative environment
- Capable to adapt to a highly dynamic and fast paced work environment
- Sense of ownership and urgency, with an ability to work both independently and as part of a global team (across multiple time zones)
- Highly organized and able to function with multiple targets in a deadline driven environment
