Tax Advisor, Tax Technology & Transformation (Financial Instruments Tax Solutions) (Financial Services Office) (Manager)(Multiple Positions), Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, New York, NY.
Provide business tax services to help client companies meet complex demands for tax reporting, compliance and planning. Assist financial services clients in developing world class tax functions, including financial instruments tax planning and compliance solutions. Perform a broad array of services, including tax accounting and compliance process improvement, tax sensitization of ERP systems, automation of complex hedge fund allocations, and implementation of new tax processes and/or technology to deal with ongoing legislative and regulatory changes (FATCA, Dodd-Frank). Embed the needs of Tax into Finance and IT systems to increase automation and data quality throughout tax processes. Assess and prioritize tax risks to establish a proper control environment that takes into account the various regulatory regimes applicable to financial services (e.g., SOX 404, Dodd-Frank, Basel III, Model Audit Rule, FINRA SIC).
Manage and motivate teams of professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years post-bachelor's, progressive experience; OR a Master's degree in Accounting, Tax, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, plus 4 years of experience.
- Must have 4 years of tax experience with a mid-size/regional to large sized/national public accounting firm, professional services firm or financial services firm, delivering tax planning and compliance solutions.
- Must have 3 years of experience with tax rules related to financial instruments and markets, including bad debt, bond premium, foreign currency transactions, installment sale, market discount, original issue discount and purchase price allocation.
- Must have 3 years of experience modeling cashflows and creating amortization tables for one or more of the following: asset-backed securities, bank loans, derivatives, corporate bonds, credit card receivables, mortgage-backed securities, municipal bonds, sovereign debt and whole loans.
- Must have 3 years of experience creating bond premium, market discount and original issue discount amortization/accretion tax schedules to determine taxable income on debt instruments with/without prepayments.
- Must have 3 years of experience collecting, manipulating and working with client tax data using Microsoft Excel and/or Alteryx.
- Must have 3 years of experience coding in VBA and/or Python.
- Must have 2 years of experience in supervising teams consisting of at least 2 people on multiple projects and providing direction to team members.
- Must have 1 year of experience managing tax compliance engagements, including engagement-related budgeting and billing, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, and escalating issues to tax partners or executives as needed.
- Travel required to meet client needs up to 80%.
