SUMMARY
Responsible for managing a Procurement team, including conducting the performance management process and providing input for staffing. Oversees the development and implementation of procurement strategies and best practices to drive optimal results for the corporation. Improves corporate profitability and mitigates risks through the establishment of competitively negotiated engagements with 3rd party suppliers and favorable contract terms and conditions. Prepares and delivers management reporting for financial results and category management.
Uses expertise and experience to lead the procurement team across the category tower (e.g. IT, Business Services). A self-starter that requires limited guidance and direction. Requires advanced knowledge and experience across the category. Drives improvements of global policies, programs and processes and ensures adherence to compliance and risk policies.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Oversees the development and execution of sourcing strategies and category management best practices across suppliers and spend categories while mitigating risk and adhering to compliance standards
- Develops partnerships with business partners and ensures that the procurement team is aligned in supporting business unit objectives
- Conducts performance management and career development processes, provides input for staffing, disciplinary actions and staff training requirements.
- Develops department goals, manages workload, sets short-term and long term priorities, monitors all activities, ensures timely and accurate completion of the work and motivates team members to achieve goals.
- Provides input and support to the budget management process in planning and forecasting department expenses.
- Responsible for attaining expense reductions for managed supplier relationships and business unit sponsored initiatives through negotiated savings, post sourcing savings and continuous process improvements.
- Serves as an escalation point for complex negotiations with critical suppliers, leveraging expertise as needed.
- Manages regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g. OFAC, FCPA, Spend Analysis, Client Relationships) and supports audit requests as required.
- Supports Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts for both the supplier base and in recruitment for the internal team.
- Develops, coordinates and maintains corporate policies relative to procurement, third party supplier contracting and supplier management practices.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- In depth knowledge/expertise in supply chain management and procurement. Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing and category management for indirect categories.
- Exceptional leadership, analytical, sourcing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required along with ability to manage staff, to motivate and to be highly flexible and adaptable to change.
- Technically adept with basic application software; proficient in MS Office Suites with advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP system. Demonstrated success in time management and multi-tasking; superior project management skills, attention to detail; thorough and organized.
- Able to distill and explain complex information to others.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or Finance and ten or more years of experience in Sourcing or Procurement related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- MBA or other advanced degree and a professional Procurement/ Supply Chain Management designation (e.g. CSCP, CPM) are a strong plus.
