For our PartnerRe office in Stamford, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Tax Manager to join our team. This person will be reporting to the North American Financial Controller.

In this role you will be an integral part of our North America external reporting team that is responsible for the financial and regulatory reporting of our North American Property & Casualty reinsurance entities, while leveraging an established network of support units.

Key skills:

In more detail, as our Tax Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • The Company’s U.S. subsidiaries and Canadian Branch income tax accounting including ASC 740 tax provision calculations, effective tax rate analyses, deferred tax analysis and reconciliations, and FIN 48 Tax Reserve analysis. Assisting the external reporting team with tax compliance (i.e. income tax, FET, SALT, etc).
  • The Company’s U.S. subsidiaries and Canadian Branch income tax accounting for reinsurance regulatory purposes under SSAP No. 101 principles and Canadian IFRS, respectively.
  • Working closely with other finance department members, external tax consultants and auditors to manage income tax processes and projects.
  • Building a close relationship with our in-house Group tax team to help identity and implement tax planning and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Managing the income tax filing process including managing the external tax filing preparers.
  • Assisting with the external reporting closing process and other ad hoc requests.
  • Ensuring harmonized and standardized processes and analysis.
  • Ensure all SOX and Audit controls are completed on a timely basis and improve as deemed necessary.
  • Assist internal and external audit with their audits and reviews.
  • Supporting the CFO community with projects, regulatory requirements, and various ad hoc requests on any aspect of the group’s financial result.

About you:

We are looking for a technically strong individual, who enjoys collaborating with internal and external partners and is seeking a challenging new job in a fast-paced environment.

As an ideal candidate you have the following qualifications, skills and mind-set:

  • University degree in Accounting/Tax.
  • At least 3 to 6 years of experience in taxation/accounting (CA/CPA) (preferably in a Big 4.
  • S. insurance taxation experience is a benefit.
  • A strong working knowledge of U.S. and Canadian tax requirements, USGAAP, Canadian IFRS and SSAP.
  • Previous experience with third party provision tools would be an asset.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools a must.
  • Strong communication and written skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to work towards tight deadlines.
  • Sense of commitment, and will ensure that the information produced is accurate, timely and to the highest quality.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team towards common goal.
