The Senior Retrocession Accountant position unlike other financial roles gives you the opportunity to work with a wide variety of stakeholders both internally and externally on a regular basis. As a Snr Retrocession accountant you will be completing all the bookings for the whole group – Claims, Retrocession, Ceeded etc. All of these activities are booked by the team. About the team:
You will be part of an immediate team of 5 and an extended team of 23 staff.
Key skills:
- Understanding and handling of covers according to the retrocession wordings
- Capturing of inward accounting data subject to retrocession covers and checking consistency of originally assumed figures
- Calculating and booking of ceded premiums/costs, sliding scale & profit commission, loss recoveries and premium adjustment
- Preparing of documents to be delivered to brokers and retrocessionaires. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on any related questions
- Assist with the coordination of internal and external audits including documentation support and SOX control reviews
- Support team members and department Head as needed.
About you:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Technical Accounting
- A University degree in Accounting or Finance is an additional asset
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communications skills (French would be an asset).
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to work towards tight deadlines
Advanced IT skills in MS Office, knowledge of SICS/nt and a reporting tool (e.g. Business Objects) is a plus - Desire to work in a culturally diverse environment with colleagues possessing a wide range of experiences
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team, towards common goals
- Last but not least, as a motivated, reliable and adaptable team member, you proactively contribute to finding solutions.
