The Opportunity
The Department of Accounting, one of the seven Departments at Monash Business School, is looking to appoint an outstanding academic to join our high-performing team. The Associate Professor/Professor of Accounting (Audit) will provide academic leadership and foster excellence in research, teaching, professional activities as well as engagement and impact. The department is recognised worldwide for the quality of its research and teaching.
A testament to the quality of the Department's research output, Monash was given a four-stars rating in Accounting, Auditing and Accountability in the 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia assessments conducted by the Australian Research Council (ARC).
Reporting to the Head of Department, Department of Accounting, the position of Associate Professor/Professor of Accounting (Audit) is responsible for fostering research excellence through procuring competitive research grants, leading significant research projects and working with other staff to develop research links. The position will provide strong and committed leadership in teaching, curriculum development and research training by participating in the Faculty's curriculum planning and development processes, academic committees, and relevant examination processes.

The Associate Professor/Professor of Accounting (Audit) will further develop the profile of the Department of Accounting, nationally and internationally by enhancing the standard of research and training activities, achieving successful research outcomes, and participating prominently in, and initiating, international collaborations in research.
To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrated experience in establishing a strong collegial program of research capable of attracting substantial external funding. You will have demonstrated international leadership in the discipline of accounting, with a reputation for being an expert in the field (eg., published in top tier journals) and delivering research excellence through procuring competitive research grants. You will have proven innovative and inspiring scholarship including supervision of high-quality PhD students.
With a flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to any circumstance, you will also be able to consult and liaise confidently with senior-level stakeholders. You will have demonstrable experience liaising with external bodies, both national and international, ensuring compliance with numerous frameworks and policies. As a strong inclusive leader, you will strive towards excellence at all times and continue to maintain our positive culture and morale. With a desire to challenge the status quo in support of School and Department interests, you will be passionate and able to maintain high levels of innovation to promote positive change and process improvement.
