Our Global Compliance and Reporting — Global Services (GCR-GC) practice is focused on helping our clients effectively manage their statutory and tax obligations proactively and responsibly. Our unwavering commitment to quality service and our technical network enable you to help clients reduce inefficiencies, mitigate risk and improve opportunities within their tax functions. The Global Services practice is experiencing unprecedented growth serving more than 245 multinational clients and generating more than $195m of globally contracted business. Our pipeline is extremely robust, and we anticipate continued growth in the foreseeable future. As part of a global team of 35,000 tax professionals in 150 countries, you will advise clients on compliance and reporting wherever the client has needs.

The opportunity

We currently have a career opportunity for a Manager in our (GCR-GS) practice. This is an incredible time to be working with companies to support their global compliance and reporting. Statutory reporting and tax has risen far up the agenda of corporate leaders, governments, media and the public. It is a period of extraordinary technical change and public and tax authority scrutiny, which must be effectively managed if our clients are to meet all obligations and manage their risk exposure.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage engagements that span multiple countries and involve local teams of multiple executives.
  • Work with client and internal EY TFO team to establish governance structure, operating model and reporting cadence for the areas of transition, transformation and financial management.
  • Monitor and report on EY’s performance, quality and effectiveness of the program services.
  • Assist with the identification of program issues, risks and dependencies and monitor until resolution.
  • Run the day-to-day operations of the program once established to include managing a team of program management professionals deployed on TFO.
  • Provide timely and high-quality services and work products that exceed client expectations.
  • Work with project/work stream leaders to identify resource needs and escalate as required to fill team positions.
  • Identify areas of improvement in the operating model and have the flexibility to identify solutions to make the improvements.
  • Build client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client business.
  • Help to develop and guide staff and other junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals.
  • Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on global trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to moderately complex situations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the team by developing a thorough understanding of EY methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery; keeping team members informed of work status; actively seeking assignments when unassigned; proactively seeking opportunities to provide tax and accounting services; challenging traditional procedures used in the past; and attempting to find new approaches.
  • Help build the practice by assisting with the scoping of new opportunities, proposal development and participating in orals presentations.

Skills and attributes for success

  • GCR-GS assists clients in the design, implementation and operation of global record-to-report processes. Our capabilities include:
  • Implementation of centrally managed global outsourcing models that provide clients with greater control, access and visibility over global compliance and reporting activities.
  • Assistance in the migration of statutory reporting and tax compliance processes from local countries to shared service center.
  • Development of new operating models to address entry into new markets, integration with finance transformation initiatives, and implementation of shared service centers.
  • Validation and governance of payroll operations utilizing one global methodology to track the end-to-end process.
  • Subsidiary governance throughout our clients’ legal entity life cycle to mitigate risk and increase corporate transparency.
  • Inventory of statutory reporting and tax compliance requirements, assessments of potential risk areas, and development of operating blueprints to implement more effective management, control and visibility over the global compliance and reporting function.
  • Assistance for our clients to connect the dots between the local record-to-report process and global tax accounting, compliance, controversy and planning.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree and approximately five years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately four years of related work experience.
  • A degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting, finance or a related field; an advanced degree in tax or law is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in designing, setting up and leading work streams for a large, complex program involving multiple, related projects.
  • CPA or JD
  • Project management certification (PMI or equivalent) preferred (in process of certification is a plus if not yet achieved).
  • Strong team and project management skills with an ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to lead a team, mentor counselees and manage client-serving business.
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
