We are actively recruiting for an audit manager/ senior manager to be our US specialist in Australia. About the role

At Grant Thornton Australia, our audit process is more than a compliance measure. We work with ASX-listed companies, NASDAQ listed entities, privately owned businesses and Not for Profits and take the time to understand the organisation, including its profit drivers and key risks.

This role will work within the National Assurance Quality team, which forms part of the Audit & Assurance team. This is a great opportunity for you to enhance your career by gaining international experience in a team which has been growing over the last 5 years, to help drive audit quality initiatives and to support our engagement teams nationally.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in A&A with solid knowledge of US GAAP, US GAAS and PCAOB auditing standards and will have exposure to US SEC clients, including auditing of internal control over financial reporting. In this role you will:
  • Be responsible for all of the firms US independence, US audit methodology and financial reporting queries
  • Identify and report on client financial risks with regard to external financial reporting requirements
  • Research technical issues and application of issues to clients circumstances
  • Support the NAQ team with training where required
  • Be the main point of contact for the audit field work and teams
  • Perform independent statutory audit of the financial reports of a wide variety of entities
Skills and experience

You'll be agile, responsive and bring innovative ideas to the table. You are a lifelong learner and a passionate auditor. This role will suit someone with the following skills, experience and attributes:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Audit & Assurance with solid knowledge of US GAAP, USGAAS and PCOAB auditing standards as well as AICPA, SEC and PCAOB independence requirements
  • Exposure to US SEC clients, including audit of internal control over financial reporting
  • CA/CPA Qualification or other relevant overseas qualification
  • Excellent client relationship skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
