Your Business and Team:

Financial Services partner with all areas of CommBank to provide specialist advice on financial management and strategy. This advice covers finance, audit, treasury, investor relations, security, general procurement and property.

Technology and Operations Finance is responsible for the provision of financial management services to the Technology and Operations Business Units. We work closely with Technology and Operations and their Business Unit customers to help them understand their technology and operations costs and delivery of current and future strategic and financial plans.

Technology and Operations delivers the Group’s information technology and banking operations functions to ensure the highest levels of customer service through world-class process excellence and technology innovation.

The Technology and Operations Finance team provides business partnering and financial management services to Technology and Operations and Business Unit CIOs.

Primary responsibilities of the team include:

  • Provide decision support services including financial information, insights and advice.
  • Provide guidance and advice on financial performance, delivery against financial plans and forecasts including financial impacts of investment decisions.
  • Develop and deliver meaningful insights to drive better business performance. Including identification of cost optimisation opportunities, provision of objective analysis and underlying trends that may represent emerging issues.
  • This role is responsible for assisting the Senior Manager in providing financial & commercial support to the Payments Technology and Operations leadership team, known as the Payments Service Utility (PSU). Responsibilities include:
  • Stakeholder management of General Managers on the PSU team
  • Monthly management reporting, variance analysis and commentary
  • Monthly financial reporting for PSU assigned programs and projects including constructive challenge and analysis of performance and investment spend
  • Driver based annual budget and quarterly forecasts
  • Financial modelling of 3 year business plans
  • Involvement in ad-hoc financial analysis and broader insights to drive tangible value
  • Identify and assist in implementing ongoing process improvements
  • You will report to the Senior Manager, Business Partnering (PSU).
  • You will have management responsibilities to support the delivery of monthly reporting, planning / forecasting and ad hoc analysis that supports the PSU business.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking all activities in accordance with CommBank’s values and support the Group’s vision.
  • Work as a team player across key stakeholder groups, balancing the needs to each group using judgment and effective communication.
  • Support both your PSU stakeholders and Technology and Operations Finance, along with Business Unit stakeholders and Business Unit Finance teams by providing financial management services and decision support, while building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Manage the monthly financial activities and deliverables for your business stakeholders, analysing month end results, review month end journals and monthly variance analysis whilst ensuring data integrity.
  • Provide timely and relevant financial information and insights, analysis and advice in support of managing the financial performance of the PSU business, Delivery Programs and delivery of productivity initiatives.
  • Monthly financial reporting for PSU assigned programs and projects including constructive challenge and analysis of performance, investment spend and capitalisation.
  • Prepare and validate monthly General Manager and Cost Centre Manager reports.
  • Assist in co-ordination, preparation and development of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including driver based plans in support of insightful analytics and business performance management
  • Ad-hoc business & financial analysis which supports timely and high quality business decision making
  • Actively driving continuous improvement and productivity driven initiatives across the ES Finance team
  • Identify and escalate issues and ensure appropriate risk management and financial control practices are in place
  • Provide coaching and support to the Technology and Operations Finance team

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills;
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to liaise with senior stakeholders;
  • Project accounting and/or IT Finance experience desirable
  • Commercial finance experience, ideally within a large corporate in Financial Services and/or Technology
  • CA/CPA/CFA qualified with up to 3+ years post qualification experience;
  • Accounting/finance management related degree; and
  • Commercial finance experience, ideally within a large corporate in Financial Services and/or Technology
