The Kernan Group, which comprises of multiple retail grocery, fuel and Café type outlets throughout County Donegal are seeking an experienced accounts assistant / part qualified accountant to work with its accounting team in Newtowncunningham, to help support its on-going activities.

This will be a full time role if successful.

Own vehicle & some accounts experience would be an advantage.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Processing supplier invoices through our invoice scanning app, Dext, & posting invoices onto our Cloud Accounts package, Xero, in order to achieve a smooth month-end close.

· Good knowledge of Excel essential

· Familiarity of cloud-based accounting systems / technology an advantage

· Weekly shop sales journals

· Monthly stock transfers

· Monthly standard journal preparation

· Payroll journal

· Cashflow management & updating cashflow schedule

· Checking & reconciling creditor statements, missing invoices, etc.

· Revenue reconciliations, VAT, PAYE and credit card / ATM reconciliations

· Cover for some payroll & cash counting, weekly shop cash sheet cash reconciliation.

· Support all month end general accounting activities & overhead cost analysis.

· Dealing with 3rd party suppliers & shop managers where necessary to resolve issues identified in reconciliations.

· Previous experience of using an accounts package such as Xero or Sage an advantage.

· Other ad hoc duties as required

· A great opportunity to experience and learn the full accounts preparation life cycle, from data entry, journal entries, TB production, to management reporting pack (P&L,BS, cash flow, etc.)
