Purpose of the role

We are a well-established and growing top 15 firm with a strong reputation for providing a high quality service, with areas of technical expertise in the following areas: Corporate Business, Non Profit, Pension Funds, Professional Practice and Private Clients. We are looking for an ambitious Part qualified ACCA student to join our successful and growing Accounts and Outsourcing team based in Central London. You will be joining a talented team committed to delivering a high quality service to a varied portfolio of clients.

Responsibilities

Part qualified students are responsible for ensuring clients needs are met in a timely and effective manner whilst ensuring all opportunities for added value are identified.

  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and review of disclosures under a range of accounting frameworks, including FRS102 and IFRS.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT and employer taxes ie PAYE, P11D and PSA.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly management reports for a range of clients.
  • Bookkeeping duties using a variety of accounting software e.g. Sage, Xero, Exact such as processing of invoices and payments, maintaining accounts payables/receivables ledgers, bank reconciliation, posting journals and accruals, year-end reporting and inter group reconciliations if applicable
  • Preparation of basic corporation tax returns.
  • Understand client’s internal controls and where weaknesses are identified, suggest improvements.
  • Able to perform on site assignments/secondments at client’s premises
  • Acquire and maintain technical knowledge for your level to the required standard.
  • Ensure completion of assigned areas of work within the time budget and deadlines to the standard set and with a minimum of supervision by the manager.
  • Take responsibility for your work and must be able to multi task in an organised manner.
  • Seek to continuously improve systems and procedures.
  • Provide assistance to junior staff as and when required.
  • Prioritise own work and deadlines.

Technical skills, experience & knowledge:

  • ACCA/ACA/AAT Part Qualified.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an Accountancy Practice Firm.
  • An exceptional team player with the ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and produce solutions.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting packages and statutory accounts preparation software (ideally Xero and caseware experience).
