Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of the business being supported, being proactive to learn about products / services / markets
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders, establishing position as number two to the Finance Business Partner (FBP)
- Be the primary producer of MI, data analysis and other reporting used for the leadership team for the business area being supported
- Prepare draft commentaries including insight, for the FBP to build upon as part of overall deliverables
- Support the tracking and reporting of all performance KPIs - especially those that have a P&L impact
- Support standardisation and efficiency in use and production of MI in general, challenging exceptions
- Conduct in-flight commercial reviews to gain a deeper understanding of margin leakage and commercial learning points as directed by the FBP
- Support the Finance work-stream in relation to Business planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Support the co-ordination of activity and consolidation and reporting of outputs
- Draft initial commentary as required
- Execute processes to ensure that the accounts accurately reflect the financial position of the business
- Review cost management processes to ensure good controls are in place around spend
- Be the point contact for IT / expense and invoice approvals. Investigating and escalating as required
- Help to ensure Finance processes and policies are adhered to. Challenge deviation and always be forward thinking about improvements
- Support the FBP in the management and review of Working Capital KPIs for the MU
- Monitor the business actions on WIP and debt items and highlight EL/EM underperformance to ensure it is escalated
- Day to day supervision of team workload and job cover arrangements
- Support recruitment across Business Finance as required
- Take on some training / mentoring responsibilities for junior and new members of the team
- Play a role in the broader finance community, including active participation in meetings, forums and projects
- Be an advocate for change programmes delivered by Finance / KBS, including automation tools, self-service, standardisation and any other changes in ways of workingQualifications and Experience
- A part or fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) or over 5 years relevant experience of accounting in an operational or professional services environment
- Resilient and able to work with multiple and highly demanding stakeholders
- An ability to work at both a strategic and a granular level - choosing when each is appropriate
